CAR HIRE/BUY.ING A CAR IN SPAIN

AS IM SURE YOU ALL WILL AGREE THE COST OF CAR HIRE IN SPAIN HAS GONE SO  UP SO MUCH OVER PAST FEW YEARS.

I AM THINKING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF EITHER TRYING TO PURCHASE A LEFT HAND DRIVE CAR HERE IN THE UK AND DRIVING IT OVER TO SPAIN, OR BUYING A CAR IN SPAIN WHICH OF COURSE WILL BE REGISTERED IN SPAIN.

THE THOUGHT IS THAT I COULD LEAVE THE CAR AT MY APARTMENT IN SPAIN AND TAXI TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT.

PLEASE CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME ANY ADVISE ON MY PLAN.

You need to look at the cost of a taxi to and from the airport to know if this is viable.  Unless you are staying for a number of weeks at a time it seems to be cheaper to hire as the cost of a taxi is so expensive.

Depending on which airport you fly into, there are companies who have secure,  long-stay parking which allows you to pick-up your vehicle on arrival and drop-off on departure. Some even offer a valeting service so your car is cleaned before arrival. You just call them to let them know your flight details and the car is brought to the airport for you or they pick you up at the airport and transport you to the car compound. Don't know the exact cost, but friends of ours have purchased a car with their neighbours and leave the car at Alicante airport, might be worth enquiring about this.

Alternatively, try CarHire 3000 as they guarantee to beat any written quote and their rates seem highly competitive.
