Paulw,
I have also just got back from Corvera. I had a meeting with one of the bosses (lawyer!) and asked him about the Clubhouse. I wondered whether the workmen, that were re-deployed to Roda to finish off the Stage that has to be completed by the end of this month, would be returning to work and complete the clubhouse. Well I can report that they won't! The official line is that even if they finished the clubhouse, they could not afford to operate the clubhouse with the number of completions. They are concentrating on forcing completions and with that in mind they have appointed lawyers in London and Southampton and also a firm of debt collectors. They seem to be having some success with this process! Their thought is that the Brits are not completing because of the poor exchange rate, which is an understandable attitude! I tried to get a date for completion and made a few suggestions of when completion might happen, well we got to the end of the year and there was still no positive response!
I signed up with Universal Hospitality in Feb and can report that even with Chris's best efforts not 1 item of snagging has been completed! Last Friday, the day I flew back, I was informed that my snagging list has been accepted by the builder of my block (all the radiators are on back to front in the block!). So I am hopeful that maybe something will happen soon! I tend to be a half full glass sort of guy! Gillian has taken over responsibility from Chris but does not live on site, so it will be interesting to see if I get the same standard of service! Despite the lack of success with snagging, Chris was always there to handle the connection of services, furniture etc.
I and my neighbour downstairs have made contact with "Housing, Administration in Place" re the swimming pool, lift etc. There is no way that I could rent out the apartment as the pool is in such an awful state. I understand that Housing are arguing with Corvera over the state of the pool and who is responsible (pump is broken, lights floating in the pool, shower water pipe exploded and lying on its side on the ground, rubbish in the pool and frogs have taken avantage of the situation)!
I can certainly confirm that the greens are amazing and, a pro that I had a lesson with, said that he thought that th fairways were impressive for so young a course. He played the course in a competition at the end of March. I tried to get a firm commitment about how long the free golf for owners was going to go on for/when was the course going to be opened to the public - well I could not get a definite date!
Lastly, I can report that the gardens are filling out well and the flowers looking amazing. In fact the spring wild flowers are a fantastic sight at the moment, I suppose because of the amount of rain that we had!!!
