WATER PROBLEM

We returned home from Condado on Saturday night.

We did our usual switching off of water (the big tap below the water tank) and electricity, and checked several times that all was secure.

Our key holder Anne Marie met with Polaris reps yesterday morning to discuss several defects and when she opened the front door was met by water through the living area.  On investigation it was discovered that the washing machine had filled and indeed overflowed.

Has anyone had this problem before or have any idea what has happened.

We are now very concerned as this could have been a total disaster.

The inlet water valve on your washing machine has failed

allowing the machine to fill with water even though it is not in use

all your appliances should have an isolating tap at the rear of the machine

turn these off when leaving the appliances for any length of time

this will prevent this type of problem

Martin is quite right although there should not be any water ingress if the main stopcock is turned off fully.

1098.  We had only turned off the main blue tap under the water tank so I can only assume that the machine filled  from the water tank.

  If we turned the hot and cold taps off above the main blue one would this mean that no water from the tank could escape into the machine.
