Bottled Gas

Can anyone tell me where is the best place to buy bottled gas for a barbeque.

You need to go to a "Ferriteria" (I think it's Spanish for Hardware Store).  You will need your passport and NIE number to purchase the initial bottle of gas.  This will include a charge/deposit for the bottle, thereafter you can purchase directly from Petrol Stations.  There should be one in Mazzaron, Alhama de Murcia and most local towns

We got our first gas bottle from the repsol garage - just passed Camposol.

Like Gerry said, you need your passport and NIE number.  We then had a form to fill in but the lady behind the counter helped us to do this.

As already said you can get the bottles at most Repsol garages with NIE and passport. Apparently a copy of the form the garage completes goes to the ayuntamiento. Thats what the girl in the garage told us anyway.

These are the silver bottles. A gas contract is needed to officially buy an orange one.

You can sometimes buy orange ones at carboots etc but thay can work out more expensive than the silver.

Buy an empy one off a market no more than 15 euros then change for new one at garage or depot in Puerto Mazarron approx 12 e  no need for paperwork etc

Hi, I am looking to buy a gas fire heater for our living room I have seen people that use a blue bottle where do you get them from and is there any paper work to fill in, or do you just pay a deposite for the bottle.

Same as my reply underneath, bottles are orange  here , shop before El Pareton also sells gas. All prices are same.  Get second hand bottle off someone or from a market . Otherwise you have to go to Gas shop get a sort of licence maybe an inspection  etc anyway its too complicated to bother with. Once you have an empty second hand one swap at shop or garage. Bottle lasts a month on careful use and we only need low setting on. We changed elec to economy 7 type and bought a gas/electric fire combo from Brico on Camposol

I found it harder to find a second hand bottle than to buy a new one. Dead simple, just take your passport to the Repsol garage past Campasol, give it to the assistant as proof of ID, put your name and address on the form and sign it, job done. I took somebody else down for one aswell and exactly the same process, all done in 3-4 mins.

Was that for the small bottle or large.?I was told karge  had to be authorised- maybe rules have changed
