Hi All

We have the most cute labrador & we thought about bringing it with us next time we come over.  It has a passport so that's not a problem but has anyone done it & if so how much did it cost?

Also are there any restrictions on the beaches?

Thanks

Sandra

Sandra, I'm not sure of the cost of bringing your dog over. I suppose it depends how you plan to travel. I know air is very expensive but I expect that you are planning to drive? Try the Defra website for the details and then the ferry companies- unless some kind person can supply you with the information.

I know that dogs are not allowed on the beach at Guardamar or Santa Pola but am not sure if thats all year round. I have heard that some beaches allow dogs on during the winter months.

Sorry I can't help more.

G.

Yes we did think about ferry & driving.  What puts me off that is that the crossing is about 20 hours & I'm not sure if the dog has to stay in a pen for the whole time.

Probably not a good idea seeing as dogs aren't allowed on the beach anyway.

Thanks for the reply though.

Sandra, I think that I read somewhere that you can visit and exercise the dog on the dog deck so may not be penned up all the time. Can't do much about the beach though!

Hi Sandra, try speaking to Paul and Pauline Mallon, they take their dog by ferry every year at Christmas.  Been on the beach with them and their dog at Christmas but dogs are not allowed during the summer months.

Hi -  I can confirm dogs are not allowed on the beaches at Guardamar from April to October. For the rest of the year they're free to roam. Some other beaches towards Torrevieja have a year-round ban on dogs though.

Why not take the Dover-Calais route and drive through France? That way you can stop as often as you like, see some lovely scenery and obviate the concern about the long crossing.

Irene
