It sounds like the president on La Isla (Paco) is planting the seed with PW regarding the 3rd pool and social club. The social club in my view would be a great move forward that would provide a good facility in what will eventually be a stunning setting so fingers crossed we will get this confirmed at some point.

Does anyone have any views?

Mark,

Call me a pessimist, but I can't honestly see any further enhancement of the facilities at Condado without any new building & sale of properties by Polaris to generate the funding to be able to spend money. This surely will not happen while numerous properties stand unsold on the development because no bank would lend them the money. This is a company that has just about managed to stay trading by the finest of margins. I hear they can't afford to pay their staff on a regular basis never mind outlay thousands and thousands of euros for further facilties that they do not generate any sales profits on.

Our resort is going to need something radical (i.e. Paramount or similar) to ever get near to the concept that we all bought into, and god knows when that might ever be. I honestly think now that the three golf course dream will never ever be viable. If you look at the available land around the course at Condado you can see there would be five years worth of building work just to fill up those spaces where property was planned. There is just not that much of a demand and market place for somethig three times the scale of this.

Regards,

Do PW still actually own anything on La Isla- if not they wont be building anything ?.  At the AGM I'm sure it was said all that PW now own on all of Condado is the Al Kazar and  two Jardines of apartments in Naranjos. Everything else, all land including the land for the further 2 golf courses, sports zone and unsold apartments had to be given away to the Banks consortium to keep them afloat.

Hi Mark,

I have returned from La Isla and have been told a few stories / facts?

I too understand that the Island presidents are trying to put pressure on PW for the 3rd pool and club house. This may also be placed in the hands of the residents as the "back pay" may well be used to purchase our own club house and pool rather than hand over the "back pay" to PW; who have said at least 2 years!

This is a great move if we are able to pull it off, as the club build would be in our control. I also believe it is better for the banks as the island will be more attractive with its own club house and 3 rd pool.

I am unsure who would run it etc but my feelings here would be "lets get it then worry about that afterwards".

I also feel that we all bought on La isla because of the exclusivity of it and the features; without these it is just a penthouse block on a moat! So as you can guess I'm all for it.

Lets all get behind our presidents and be as one for what we want.

Cheers

Neil

Why wouldnt the 'back pay' go to Polaris. I dont understand that point. Polaris have provided bill's to the Presidents for services they provided before the Community Charges started to be paid these still have to be paid back to Polaris.

The "back pay" is in despute as the services "supposed to have been carried out" have not, or at least not to our standard.

I am unsure of where you live in CDA, what apartment and which block on the island do you have?

I understand Mark may well be trying to guage response and reaction for the island but the presidents have our concerns and wishes in hand and I am sure they will do their best to sort out as much for the islanders as possible.

Our speculation and conjecture, ultimately has no real bearing on the matter, and I am sure when the time comes all apartment owners will be consulted on the matter.

We have a meeting at the end of the month that will hopefully give us all a better idea of how the proposal is going.

I do not want to sound harsh or abrupt, I know you all mean well and want a great site for us all.

If you are on a block on the island you may well want to ask your president about any news, or speak to Paco, who seems to be doing a great job for the island.

Neil

Yes sometimes PW bills must have to be renegotiated.

My family  have a couple of apartments in the 1-7 Jardins of Jardines now they did have bigger plans, though I'm the only one who vists CdA anymore and just in off season. I think they will sell those as well when things improve.

I was just wondering if the 'back pay' negotiations were about trying to keep the back pay but offer PW a deal that would mean PW dont have to fund the new building. Any new facilities are to be applauded but I dont think PW are easily persuaded or negotiated with or move fast. Their 'it'll be two years before we can do any building'  has been their standard response since summer 2009..Like a previous poster on the thread I also think they dont own La Isla or the land around La Isla anymore,  maybe you know different.

But anything that can be done to get the wheels turning has to be a right move.

Where is the 3rd pool to be situated? The pic's on the other forum blog page make La Isla look very attractive.

Between block 6 and 7 so not a big area but still potentially very nice if this goes ahead. On the artist impression it shows the 3rd pool and a nice social club / cocktail type bar but I am starting to think the impression was done by a piss artist as I can't see it being done anytime soon.

Good luck to you and well done if you get it off the ground.  I think social club bars are a great idea for owners/residents to meet up.  Unfortunately the Clover is all we have at the moment when in Condado and Polaris do as much as they can to chase people away rather than attract customers.

I for one will be heading to the golf club bar when I'm next over...unless a social club opens up in the Jardines somewhere.
