Hi,
We are due to complete on a property in CDA in the next week or so and have been advised on numerous occasions to buy everything at home (UK) and then get it sent over to Spain via a "Man with a Van". We've been told it works out a fair bit cheaper.
Just wondered if any of you could recommend anyone in the East Midlands region of the UK who has done this or if any of you could give me an approx guide price of how much the transport cost you before I start buying stuff only to find out its going to be just as expensive.
Many thanks.

Hi
I agree it can be cheaper, I was going to do the same thing but in the end bought my big items from DFS Spain www.dfsspain.com nothing to do with DFS UK. We didn’t buy furniture package just thing like beds, headboards, and sofa also patio furniture. All the small items we bought in the UK and took them all over in our estate car.
White goods I would buy in Spain anyway as if they go wrong you will have no warranty if bought in UK and you may struggle to get any repairs done.
Regards
Phil

Hi,
I would recommend buying white goods out there due to plug differences a nd guarantees on products. We bought beds and white goods from DFS - however after looking around would definately buy from elsewhere. Media Markt do white goods and beds are available widely in furniture shops. You will have to look around at different shops out there - if you don't have time for this then to buy at home is probably better for you. It took us 3 trips to furnish completely including all kitchen bits and finishing touches.
Regards Carla

Hey
We did send a few things over but we did price comparison and it was things like lightfittings that were ridiculously expensive out there. Other than that we did'nt feel it was that expensive out there if you do your homework!
We used furntiureplus.es for white goods and some furniture and the rest we bought from ikea.es using flatpaxabia. com who shop and deliver to your door on the day you want. Both of these you can check out prices and decide for yourself if its worth it.
There is a Sunday market at Puerto Mazarron which sold artwork and other homewares - you can haggle if you buy alot!
Good luck, its great to get it finally furnished!!!!

Thanks everyone. That is really helpful. We already have a double bed that we no longer need at home so that will save us a few hundred anyway so makes sense to get it all taken over.
I'm not overly concerned about warranty on white goods as we've never had a problem inside the first year or so anyway so it's a risk we're willing to take and places like Currys have a Fridge/Freezer for £180 at the moment so if it was to fail us it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Thanks for all your help and WillyWonker, thank you we'll give Steve a call.
