flights to England

Hi, can anyone who has been through it let me know how it works with getting the water connected.   How long does it take after you contract with the water company? and how does it actually get turned?  does someone eventually turn up from the water company or is there someone on site.  Any information would be most appreciated as I am having problems with this one.

I signed on 23rd Jan and was given the keys at the signing and the water was on from that day (if fact it was on when I went in November and they let us for an hour  to measure windows and rooms etc before signing - we did this to order furniture and curtains and count the number of light fittings needed). The elec. was requested on 24th AM and was connected within 8 days even though they quote 15 working days.
