Water/Electricity Connection charges

I am close to completing on my villa ( how many times have I said that!!) and SJU have told me I have connection charges of nearly 1200 Euros which my solicitor has said is ridiculous. Has anyone else had this discussion with SJU? Incidentally they also want to charge 750 Euros in advance for water until they can obtain the habitation certificate, again weird??

We are also approaching completion. We have been quoted (inc IVA) 758 for water connection, 621 for electricity connection, 1033 for waste water, 417 community charge (Rio Park) and 951 for satellite TV connection. All adds up to an astonishing 3782 euros!! Our solicitor is looking into these costs for us. Happy Days!!

I was told by my snagging expert that 400 Euros is about the regular charge for Water and Electricity! He also said it was Spanish Law that a builder connects a t.v aerial to every new property free of charge, though I doubt this would mean Sky.

Has anyone actually paid these charges ( you can remain anonymous!) or like my friend below do we look forward to yet another battle with SJU!  I'd be interested in any other feedback on experiences in this matter.

We feel that we have paid way over the odds for our apartment as it is seem as the golf has not yet transpired .If we feel that we are being 'ripped off' for anything else, we will be joining some of the other would be buyers and backing out of the deal altogether which is exactly what we will be telling MRI in two weeks time.
