Albeit three years behind schedule, I think the pool area is of vital importance to many residents and owners hoping to rent out their properties. Of similar importance, though, is the general appearance of the urbanization. For example, street cleaning and garden maintenance has either fallen away or not been done at all. As a hypothetical prospective buyer I would consider clean streets and a well tended communal garden a must. I have been paying my Ayuntamiento taxes since I completed on my property back in January '07, my next payment due around September time. This will make an approximate total payment of some 1.000 euros. Where does this money go? What would happen if all the tax payers decided to withold some of these tax euros and employ people to clean our streets and tend our gardens?
On top of this I also pay a non-residents tax, laughingly known as a wealth tax, because the Spanish assume that if you own a property here but don't live in it permantly you must obviously rent it out. Never have, never will.
It is becoming increasingly embarrassing coming off the 3319 and turning into the estate. It is like driving through a rubbish tip. I'm not naive enough not to realise that, in Spain, as elsewhere in the world, there is a shortage of govenment money but it appears San Cayetano, Taray's "jewel in the crown", has been shafted. We try to do our bit around the area where we live but when you have people dumping half a forest by the bin area what chance do we have? Why not just cut it up and put it in the bins? This time we did it for you, next time we will dump it back in your garden because we know who you are.
