On our trip over to Roda this year we thought we would take a trip to Valencia for a short two night stay. I have tried to make sense of the Spanish railways site, but failed dismally!  Anyone tried this trip, is there a direct train to Valencia, or do we need to change. Can we just turn up to a station, or do we need to book? Any hand tips, recommendation etc would be welcome.

Also, we over from 25th August for two weeks, we have two young teenagers, boy and girl, phase 3 and would like to meet up if anyone is out at the same time, also husband and son are golfers if anyone else fancies a round ?

What a great facility this forum is! Hankering after our visit to Roda after 48 hours of rain here in UK.

Hi

My wife and I spent three days last month in Valencia.  We booked hotel accomodation and train tickets via the internet from the UK.  Train tickets were booked via Rail Europe and the tickets arrived at our UK address within a few days of ordering.  We booked from Cartagena Station to Valencia Nord but ended up getting a taxi from Roda to Basilcas and catching the train there.

We booked the hotel via Expedia.  The hotel we booked was the Husa Dimar and the address was 80 Gran Via Marques Del Turia Valencia, 46005 Spain         Book online or CALL 0203 027 8675

The hotel was excellent and was very well located for tourist areas.  Hope this helps.

Valencia is well worth a visit. For sheer luxury stay at Las Arenas on the sea front or the Westin in the centre. We adore La Pepica restaurant also on the sea front, a favourite haunt of Hemingway, famous matadors that adorn the walls & King Alonso, one of the best paellas ever!! See la Pepica dot com.

Can't wait to return again!!

Mike
