At last, after years of waiting builders have moved on to the scrubby patch of land opposite Block 1/2 and Bungalows. At present they are simply marking out the foundations, so I don't yet know what they are putting there, but at least they have cleared the scrub and put in some builders cabins. We were originally told the area was for football pitches, then for tennis courts, swimming pool, amenity centre and goodness knows what else. Knowing our luck it's likely a rubbish recycling facility! anyhow, whatever it is, they have made a start. I will try to find out more.

Started digging foundations today. The notice says raqueta courts, by which I would have thought that they mean squash, but it could mean all types of racket sports, but it is clearly a building.

No pictures, as unless you are a portacabin / JCB buff, there is nothing to photograph. As we start for home on Wednesday, I doubt whether there will be much to photograph. About the middle of the last month a truck and a bunch of guys turned up and erected a sign, announcing the intention to complete by Dec.'11. Then, I think, on / about Monday 26th Ocober, 2 portacabins were set up, followed on Wednesday 28th by a JCB and 4 workmen. They levelled a patch of land and marked out 4 holes, 3 of which were duly dug by the JCB. On the Friday morning it rained a little and no-one turned up. Since then-nothing. The holiday came and went and as of today (6th November) and the site remains as 2 portacabins, 1 JCB and 3 small holes. Perhaps someone else will pick up the thread and continue reporting?

I have just uplooaded a picture taken of the new construction works just before we left for the UK. There were 6 foundation holes dug out and 3 of them were concreted. Shortly after the photo was taken a lorry load of service tubing arrived.

Hi
For anyone who´se interested, I have an artists impression of the finished article. I tried to upload it but it´s in the wrong format. If anyone wants to see it, give me their email and I´ll send it across.

I understand that it's coming on a treat now with much of the building work completed. Unfortunately, we are unlikely to be out there for some time due to other commitments, but are looking forward to seeing the changes.

Building work completed!?!?!? Who are you kidding?
The framework for the clubhouse is up, but no walls or roof. The tennis courts are marked out with edging, but that´s it. If there was anything worth showing I´d photograph it, but believe me all you can see are about 50 acroprops and lots of timber struts.

Hi Mike
We were over there at Christmas and took a couple of photos before we left, which we have just uploaded. We thought you might like to see the progress. We were shown an artist's impression while we were over there, but it seems different to the work that is actually taking place.

Hi Irene.
Thanks for the update, perhaps they are aiming for Dec 11 1012! Anyway, it will probably be finished by the time we manage to get over as we have a very busy year again. Whatever happens it must be better than the wasteland the plot has been for the last few years. Living on a clearly unfinished development is hardly good for property values, so at least we are one step nearer to having a pleasant outlook. Gloria is looking forward to the park being finished, although whether it will form part of this project seems unclear.

Originally we were told that the strip closest to Brisas was also going to be included, but apparently it isn´t now as the bank wouldn´t give it to the council and the council haven´t got any money. Shame that that strip will stay as a dogs toilet.

Just a quick update on the racket park... all work has stopped because the contractor has gone bust! The Ayuntamiento are trying to get some money together to finish it, but at present there is no fencing around the tennis courts, no lights, no nets and the changing facilities are unfinished. Another white elephant.
Sad

Thanks for the photos Nick and Linda. I don't suppose that it's finished but it looks a lot better than the scrub land. Now all we need is the park at the end, or am I asking too much!
