IBI Taxes

Hi All

We bought our apartment i September 2010 in Phase 3B. We have send the name change form to the castastral office in Cartagena in April 2011 and expected to get an invoice for IBI taxes. But until today we have not received anything.

Do you know if this is "normal´" for Cartagena or do you think we have to contact the office again?

I would contact them again. IBI is issued in July/August. However, thinking about it you only just had buzons (letter boxes) erected for Phase 3B last month and the post office will not deliver to anything else. Once you have the IBI you can set up a direct debit at the bank and also have available the Vatastral value for paying the non-resident tax. By the way you should have paid the latter for 3/4 month of 2010 by end of last year.

We have put the address of our bank on the form because we did not have the right address then. And they do not send the invoice to a non-spanish address. When the bank receive the invoice they will pay it and establish a direct debit. But we might go to Cartagena and ask at the catastral office directly.

We asked our lawyer to arrange a direct debit from our account. Quite easy.
