Hi
DYS have just informed me that they can no longer offer me a hire car from Auriga Crown as they are closing down. Not sure if this is just at Murcia airport or in general. Not sure if this is common knowledge yet.

My wife checked at the airport in Murcia yesterday and from April 2012 Auriga Crown will be out of business completely - across the whole of Spain. Shame really as I have always found them to be hassle free if not one of the cheapest for car hire. I have no idea why they have ceased trading and am a bit surprised as they always seemd to be busy.
if you have booking for later this year - start making alternative arrangements now. Jon Faulkner

unfortunately a sign of the times - Spanair bust, Auriga Crown bust, - bad, bad times in Spain with over 20% unemployment - can you imagine that in the UK ??? . A further downside to this could maybe be an increase in prices as one competitor is now out of the market.

Hi
There's a similar post on the main page of this web site where one of the posters says he has a friend who works for them and they are opening up ay Corvera !?
Looks like we may have to wait a while to establish the true facts.

Just been lookng on AC website. Nothing about giving up, but you can still book a car for March, but can't book anything for anywhere from June on, so looks like they are packing it it. Not sure if that means gone bust, as obviously still taking short bookings and honoring current ones. No sign of summer car hire prices shooting up though, as look about the same as last year.

When I did my searches, I tried to see if I could book a car for anywhere in Spain from AC after Easter, but all searches came back "There are no cars available for the selected search" or words to that effect.
Checking out other hire companies, it doesn't seem to have had any knock-on effect yet. There have been one or two new ones appear - we went with Advantage last year, which is supposed to be a spin-off from Hertz, but I couldn't recommend them from my experience last year (4 cars over a 10 day period to get one that actually worked!).

I have spoken with my very good friend at Auriga Crown Murcia airport. They have confirmed that they are NOT moving to Corvera. That they are to cease trading and that they and all their colleagues are out of work at the end of (probably) March. I really really do hate to see people becoming unemployed through no fault of their own. It does not just affect that person, but their immediate family too. Particularly in these bad times. I have had nothing but great friendly service from all staff there and wish them all great success at finding new jobs quickly.
