Hi

We've looked at bikes for the kids a few times when we've been out but never got round to buying any.  I know people say there are some good deals around but every time we've been to look, they have seemed expensive - especially as we're only out a few times a year and the kids are growing up fast.

I ordered a couple of bikes from sportsdirect - as a Sunderland supporter it pains me to do so but, they were cheap!  Our 6 year old got a bmx for £55 and our 4 year old got a bike for £50.  I ordered them on Monday and they arrived at CDA today.  They were shipped by DHL; I was updated throughout; able to follow the shipping on line; and had a call today to confirm the delivery.

The delivery charge from the UK to CDA was £8.99!!

We're out next week so hopefully its just a matter of putting the peddles on...

David

PS - a big thank you to my neighbour for taking delivery till we arrive!!

Where did you have them delivered?  Do we have a holding point for such large items?

We looked at having some of our own bikes transported over to CdA but the transport costs were the price of a new bike. We went to all the various sports shops in all the usual places from Neuva Condomina, Cartagena to Lorca, and anywhere else we could think of . Also not just the mega stores but supermarkets and small bike shops and finally were lucky that the Sports mega store on the retail park near Cartagena had a tent out on the car park and were having a bike sale at very reasonable prices. You need to have a vehicle that can transport them then as well. Finding those sale prices is just luck.

So, purchasing online and getting them delivered is a good idea but I don't think there's anyone on CdA is acting as a holding place for large items, think you just have to rely on a neighbour or possibly your keyholder if you ask nicely- or try to get delivery for when you are on the resort.

Hi David & Ellie

Which airline do you fly with as we have flown two bikes over with us on Jet2 at only £30 per time and we will fly another one over soon. You have to ring up the call centre to book it and it only costs £30 one way which is great as we are not taking them back. They just have to be make smaller by removing the wheels and handle bars and either wrapped in lots of bubble wrap or a bike bag and they go in the cargo hold. Jet2 are great as we've flown over a sewing machine and furniture in the past with no problem but some of the other airlines may also take bikes.

Just make sure that you hire a car big enough to fit them into with the suitcases, or use Gregory for your car hire at Condado and he will pick you up in the 7 seater.

Bee

Hi
One of our neighbours is a resident and has a key in case we get locked out. They were delivered to his apartment and he has put them in ours.
As it was DHL they were happy to organise a redelivery on a date we were there but they arrived ok.

So far as im aware there is nowhere to store so you need s friend or a good key holder or have them deliverrd when your there - probably order a week before would be my suggestion.

Well...

We arrived on Tuesday and everything was in one piece. Spent an hour yesterday putting on handle bars, seay, pedles and front wheel. We have two very happy boys!

David
