I have herd that we can get a skype phone in the apartment with a local uk number so as people can call us from the uk at local rates. Can anyone advise what equipment we need and how we set this up.

Hi,
You will need a computer or iPhone,or iPad. You will also need broadband in the apartment 1mb will do for normal calls.
Download Skype on your device, when hooked up to broadband and you can follow the instructions from Skype.

I use Skype for work at my apartment and also have video calls with the 1 mob connection. Very usefull.

skype wi fi dual phone 3088   then you need a skype subscription and then subscription for on line  number

If you have an Android or IPhone, just download the free app and use this as your Skype phone. Just make sure youu have disabled 3G roaming before you activate the Skype client otherwise there is a risk you can "drift off" the wifi and start racking up high data charges.
