What is the situation with the Beach Club this year?  I assume Roda do not provide any transport from the resort any more.  Is the Beach Club open to anyone ?  Do Roda guests receive any preferential treatment?  People staying in our apartment in Roda Golf and Beach Resort expect there to be a beach resort and I don't know what to tell them when they ask for information as it would appear that it is not exclusively for Roda owners/guests any more.

Tell them that we Roda owners have been shafted by Calidona and paid for the priviledge.

Despite what the Calidona apologists will tell you, the Beach Club was advertised as an integral and exclusive part of the package we bought. Hence the name Roda Golf and Beach Club. We bought the apartments, villas etc and never expected that Joe public could walk in and make himself comfortable. Similarly with the Beach Club.

But to answer one of your questions it is true that the Beach Club is open to anyone. To advertise it to potential customers as exclusive, as some owners are doing, would be wrong.

Regards,

Shannon

Hi Yeomans

Yes the beach club is open to all and there is now an admission charge. It was €10 per person last year. And no transport form Roda.

My advice would be to remove all reference to "exclusive" beach club from your advertising - I have. I just tell clients it is there and what the cost is.

Collados took over the running of the beach club and restaurant  2 years ago and were promised payment by Calidona for all owners that used the facilities and the discounts offered.

As Shannon pointed out, Calidona "shafted" them too and refused to pay up so now no discsounts and no free entry.

Lots of complaints have been made to both Calidona and the Entidad who did not achieve anything via their discussions with Calidona about these issues. So we are stuck with the situation.

Not nice - but unless you want to start a law suit in Spain there appears to be nothing we can do.

Hello Pommers and All,

Your last sentence reminded me of the fact that a group of people were taking out a class action against Calidona. This mainly Spanish group considered that the price they paid per square metre  for their property at Roda (say 3750 euro), was much greater than similar properties on other comparable developments, without the advertised facilities of Roda (at say 1500 euros). Therefore they wanted the difference repaid to them for the non construction of those facilities at Roda.

Has anyone heard how things are with that group?

Regards,

Shannon

Has anyone been to the Beach Club this year? Is there / what is the entry price and does Roda offer transport at all this year?

I went to the beach club a few weeks ago and it was fantastic.

It's 12 euros to get in per person - that gets you a sun lounger

If you fancy the double loungers on the beach then thats a bit more.

Food / drink prices OK

You need to sort your own transport out - drive there or  catch the ferry from santiago

I spoke to someone who said they were asked for €50!!! Just a tad more than a bit!
