Bandits on the AP7

I will be driving down to CDA in September (in a big van for all those animals that need removing from site- joke). I have been reading a thread on the wider EOS forum about crime in the costas including bandits on the AP7 and other spots between Alicante and the French border, robbing travellers who are obviously foreign.

Anybody had any experiences this summer whilst driving down through France and Spain and also going back via Madrid to Bilbao as I will going back this route at the end of the stay.

Also, Amy tips on routes, stopovers and general do's and don'ts would be good. I have got a route worked out as I am stopping off in the Payrenees for a few days on the way down so coming via Zaragossa.

If you want a reasonable place the to stay either the Holiday Inn Express at Leganes or Getafe just on the outskirts of Madrid are excellent value with a room for up to four people including breakfast starting at 55 Euros. They're just by the M50 orbital and the the Getfe one is next to retail park with more tapas bars and restaurants than you can shake a stick at!!

Enjoy the drive the roads are great and only had to pay 14.50 Euros in tolls
