Air Con Pre Payment Cards

I understand you can have your aircon on a prepayment card system,can anyone advise re if its possible after installation and where the cards can be purchased.

Basically the meter is fitted close to the fuse box and connects to the fuse that is dedicated to the AC units and has to loaded with the cards before it can be used

The consumption rate is setup in the meter and can be varied depending if you are just looking to cover the bill or make additional income

We install these in some rentals and load the meter so that the renter gets 154hours use included as part of the rental and then they have to buy more cards

The cards have a value of €10 but you get 50 with the meter and then buy additional cards for €1 each

It really encourages people not too abuse the AC use, to turn them off while they are out or leave the units on all day and night as we have seen bills for €200 for a  weeks use

I have had 6 of these fitted for customers, they work but you need to make sure that the details are on your rental advertising as only had one problem when a renter objected

You also need a good property manager to control this and look after the cards etc

It is an easy way to control your costs

 you can buy meters to do this in uk from westwood meters , i have been fitting them in bedsits for years .

Cost from £30-40 each , cards bought in bundles , the more you buy the chaeper they are , meters by default in £s which some may find better for there uk renters

 you can also buy air con room sensors wireless , sit on ceiling and turn air con off if no movement detected in room for a pre set time , meaning if they go out and leave air con off it will switch off  there is a setting for nightime that does not sense movement meaning when asleep they will not swich off , once setup you never have to touch them again , only to change batteries if you have a battery model

ecosense is the brand name selling them but probabvly others available now 

The problem with these type on sensors in many properties is that the unit has to be able to be operated by a remote control as it uses this system to send the signal

On Condado this isn't a problem but on Corvera and other locations that have a fully vented system, with a wall controller, it is not possible to use these types of systems

What it does not solve is people sitting in the properties with the AC running and a door or window open which is why a meter can often be a better solution and of course people running AC all night
