It is good to know that the bar will be open soon again instead of remaining closed. We will definitely to have a drink there and taste some tapas when we are in SC next time.

Why don't we all just wait and see what it's like before making decisions such as boycoting the bar ?
Who know's maybe, just maybe it will be ok ? If it's not, then there are other venues to go to aren't there???????
Maybe the 'Permanent Residents' can have some influence for us 'Holiday Owners' ??????????????????????

Well said Vienna, a SpanNNish bar in Spain. Steve your comment lets boycott it is totally uncalled for you are trying to damage someone's lively hood before it has even opened, be ashamed of yourself. Also your comment "I think everyone will agree" well everyone doesn't agree. I am a permanent resident here and will be trying out the new bar. It's the first time I've been on here for a very long time and this is one of the reasons why, because of some small minded people that try and speak for everyone. A spaNish bar in Spain my goodness. Hope my grammar or spelling doesn't upset anyone.

Not long to wait now, spoke to Fran at the Aquadel this afternoon, he said the bar should be opening this Friday Evening. It certainly looks that way, as it has all been cleaned up and the tables laid out again, although the tops of the bar stools look as if they are still away for repair.
The 'Gym' now has a wooden floor overlay (or may it be imitation wood, can't tell from outside) and the end wall has been covered in mirrors.

Dave - thanks for letting us know the progress with the new bar etc. I am looking forward to seeing what it is like when I am over in May. Can't get there before unfortunately!!
Just one question - have they taken away much of the "old" restaurant with regard to space?

The bar is now approx 60% of its orignal size.
By the way, when Fran said to me that's it's opening Friday evening, that's the 3rd date he has given me but things do look a bit more promising this time.

Many thanks Dave - will wait and see what it is like when I am over. We seem to have lost quite a lot of the original restaurant and bar though! Obviously this is to incorporate the new gym. See you in May.

well I am sure all of you got the email today announcing the reopening of the bar on the 22nd of feb..
I am sure that many like ourselves are very relieved that a bar is opening at all... we do actually visit other establishments in the village, and have found some of them brilliant.
The only issue is that in some places in the villiage sometimes you can feel as if you are in the way if you are there for a meal with family when perhaps the quiz night is on or pool night or bingo night.
This can be an issue if you are looking to enjoy a relaxing meal, We do understand that entertainment is a main stay of an establishment but also so it the food side and when you walk in and are asked to shush when you are just arriving as people are trying to enjoy the quiz, it can be very offputting. and makes you inclined not to go there again. It might be a case of perhaps not serving food and announcing this when other entertainment is on....
and we would agree with john and ann and various others we can only hope that the new owners are sucessful in their venture... and that our development does not end up like many others with closed up facilities..

. . . . and presumably anyone looking for a relaxing evening at the aquadel when live music was on would be happy to chat by exchanging written notes . . . . or sush the band . . . . . or pick a quieter night .

Thanks to Paco and his family.....and to Francisco...for a great night on Friday.
Rather than a boycott there was a good mix of Brits and Spanish and the tapas and cerveza were excellent.
The aerobics suite with its 'spinning' bikes looks..... interesting..... to say the least!
In the face of sometimes hostile rhetoric Taray have reopened the bar. It is up to us now to use it.

Pete- many thanks for letting us know the bar has re-opened and that you all had a fantastic evening. Looking forward to seeing it all for myself when we come out in April/May. The "spinning" bikes sounds interesting - I am sure my son and grandson will have a marvellous time trying them out!!

Heard from friends that a Spanish Couple have taken the bar over. Absolutely Fab! Can't wait for next holiday to visit it. Spanish tapas here we come! Just what the doctor ordered! Who wants to come to Spain and turn it into 'Little Britain' and serve up our dire fattening food?! How sad is that? We should all respect the fact that we are living in Spain and must do our best to intergrate and be part of the Spanish communty. Someone asked the question elswhere - is San Cayetano a Ghetto? Well, it's not and as long as Spaniards run the Centre it never will be!

When we are in Spain next time we will certainly visit the bar again and also have a look at the spinning bikes as I am a fan of spinning. I think it is added value for the residents and aspirant house buyers that we have good facilities in SC.

hi last time i was over was in october, and it was not in the aquadel bar that we were sushed in, it was a bar in the villiage as they were having a bingo night, which is fair enough..
as I said it just needs to decide that if they are having a night where its not entirely suitable for other patrons to be there who are not engaging with the event of the night i.e bingo, pool night or whatever then they need to advertise that they will not be serving food etc.... just avoids people feeling that they need to rush their food and feeling that they are in the way....
We got an email from aquadel centre advertising the event of the bar reopening and I thought that all members of the centre got the email, whilst we dont live there all year round we did take out yearly membership as a way to support the centre. It will be the same with the bar and we hope that the new venture proves to be a success. We hope that there is some entertainment on at some stages as it proved very very popular with not only our developement but others nearby and We could see how if you were living there all year it would fantastic to know that there will be different events on for your enjoyment.
Far from thinking san cayetano is a ghetto as others have said, we would think that we have been very lucky when we compare ourselves with friends that purchased on other developments that remain un finished and are still paying very hefty charges in comparasion to ourselves. We just hope all goes well and we are sure that no matter who is running the bar its an welcome addition to the community.

Irishfin it is clearly advertised outside of the bar all year round, what nights are bingo, quizz or pool instead of feeling in the way or rushed make an active choose not to go in on those said nights ???? when people arrive late into the village because of late flights and the likes they are over the moon the kitchen is still open as there is no set time of closure unlike aquadel.
I think i am right in saying we all want the aquadel centre to work as we all have a vasted interest in it, one way or another, but this does not mean that one bar is the be all and end all in the village.

Hi
Having been in the UK since the new bar opened we have no knowledge of how it is doing and what they are offering. Are there any residents out in San Cayetano who can fill us in on everything.
Thanks
Jan

Hi. We are in bar at moment. We have been in San cayetano since tues and have visited the bar several times having enjoyed a meal, drinks and tapas. We have been made to feel very welcome , the bar has a lovely atmosphere , very traditional. But at same time offering paella or a roast! Would highly recommend please use to keep it !
