Hi
I have just bought a ground floor apartment in Garden 1. I should be going over at Easter but I need to work on my online business so I need a guaranteed good internet connection. I have been looking at buying a SIM card and a MiFi modem or dongle but all the options look very expensive to use 8 hours a day and would I even get a signal at the resort?
I have also read about the installed internet service in the apartment, does anyone know anything about this?
Thank you
Gary and family

Gary,
We have an apt on Jardies 1, No 22, and have Internet. I don't know the technical details etc but it works ok in and around the apt and you can also get a connection at the Condado Club, Jardines 5 and the Clover pub at the Al Kaser shopping area.

The internet hasjust been sorted on the resort, it will be as before cost wise which gives you 2mb of internet along with TV and phone and sat tv..
Each property will have access to the service just contact ML/A2Z for further information.

Yep, good to see that things have gone the right way and that the internet was agreed by the majority of level 2's. So if I understand it correctly TV & Internet is now all included in the community fees with no additional charges, i.e exactly what we all wanted at the 2011 AGM. Cost is being covered by savings in Security ( still Securitas ) and gardening. Looks like a good result :-)

The deal has been on the table for a year, so well done to the current level 2's for accepting it, assume ML will post full details in the next email?

So I'm told. This is the same deal that La Isla and the majority of other Polaris resorts have. The costs are €8/property for TV & Internet, I'm told that savings in other areas, such as gardening and security will mean that this can be included in the currect community fees so no rise necessary.

This is great news!
Could this mean there's going to be free wifi in The Clover and Condado Club real soon?
Malcolm.

but if you can get internet in your apartment for only the cost of the modem, why not get that and sit comfortably in your own chair with a cold G&T whilst surfing?

Now, now Phil. Too much staying in the apartment with a G&T makes Jack a dull boy (sad even).
Its just that I could then extend my connected world and potentially stay out in these establishments even longer.
Actually, recently bought in the Jardines and need to get the internet in as previously have used a Spanish SIM for data. Can't see the mentioned price list on the A2Z website, though it does mention €70 for a wireless Arris modem installed? Did this used to be €140 in the old days?
Also no price for their digibox. Will the DVB-C tuner in my TV be OK to pick up the free TV signal?
Have emailed A2Z bit would Milenium have these prices as I know someone who ordered through them?
Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm,
Believe me it doesn't take much encouragement for me to go out and make prolonged use of the local establishments, but having internet at home means i can sit in the chair surfing and catching up with email etc whilst the better half is watching cr*p TV.
Your doing better than me, I can't find €70 for a modems on their website :-(
The only price I can see says €100+IVA for the arris 652wifi version,
they were doing a special offer last year but this may of ended? I'm sure someone on here would of placed an order recently so will have the current prices.
yep, a TV with a DVB-C tuner should be OK, I say should as i have seen a couple that won;t pick up all the stations, no idea why and couldn't see any way of getting deep into the cable config to check freq, QAM's etc.
Best to go to A2Z direct as they will know the latest prices and offers available.

Hi All,
These are the prices we paid at the end of Jan 2013 (this year) for the installation etc:
Cable Modem Arris WiFi - 100 euros
TV/Sat HD box - 148.60 euros
Analogue (Internal Calls only) Telephone - 25 euros
All plus IVA @ 21%.
So if like us you have all three then total bill inc. installation was 273.60 + 57.46 (IVA) = 331.06 euros
The TV box works fine on a modern (>5 years old) UK TV without any alterations (for those interested) so you get the HD channels & can record what you are watching only (this one is not like VM Tivo boxes) via external HDD & the phone is for calls within any Polaris World resort. 2Mb connection.
Good Luck.
Marc

This is really good news. Having the internet is important to us and I can stay in touch with family and work so easily and cheaply when we are at CdA.Had tried the dongle and it seemed expensive per use but of course we had many weeks when it wasn't being used so it evened out somewhat.
I also wanted to be able to access the 'net at Al Kasar and Condado Club as I'm not the sport fanatic my husband is but it's made a real difference to be able to take my tablet down to either venue read or download books and surf the net, have a vino and still be in company rather than sitting at the apartment when he wants to watch a sports event (altho' I also choose to sit at the apartment sometimes but it's nice to have the option)
Handy for visitors and guests too!
So, good news for us.
