Omg now I know why I've never joined in these threads. I've seen Winston and he looks lovely and no doubt not left to bark for hours in his own. Yes, pesky Cats, nearly as bad as pesky Children :-) all I would like is that dog owners do not go out for hours, early in the morning, and leave their dogs to bark for hours. That's all I wanted to say, which I'm sure Caroline meant when she started this thread. Happy holidays everyone ;-)

Firstly to Hellyg Pesky children? And for all I do understand the annoyance of a dog barking get some balls and confront the owner, or go to ML instead of venting your anger on this forum. Yes it is a forum , which is great to talk but moaning and doing nothing !! Every garden has a president find out who they are and address this issue, or as I have said sort it head on, yourself Regards

I would be amazed if cats did that? Cats normally bury whatever they do not drop it in what they fear most lol Lets stick to the facts at least and leave hearsay behind the toilet block lol

Oh no - what did i start!? Just checking in for first time since i started this thread.
Anyway - just wanted to say glad i'm not going mad and it wasn't only me being a grumpy old whatsit annoyed by the garden 5 dog. Just to re-iterate the issue was not a dog being in residence per se, rather that it was perhaps irresponsibly left for long periods in the back yard of our downstairs apartment - although it did also have access indoors. It used to just run back and forth in a very frantic, distressed manner barking for hours at a time like it was going a bit loopy. I'm not a dog owner / expert but i would hazard a guess this isn't a great way to look after a dog wherever you live as presume they like a bit of company. I don't mind a reasonable amount of barking / noise as I know my 2 kids aren't the quietist in the world so we must annoy some people - but when you've laid in bed on the first morning of your holiday listening to 2 hours of solid barking you start to loose your will to live! As you all know - the back yards are only just below your bedroom windows so the noise is very close and means you can't open them for some fresh air.
I will be doing something about it and contacting our garden president to ask him to keep an eye on the situation for us and Millenium to express concern this is allowed to go on / just make a note this dog can be a bit loud. I was going to speak to the owners when we were there. However, as it was the first time we'd encountered this dog we didn't like to storm down straight away in the first few days as we had no idea if it was just visiting for the weekend or a permanent 'resident'. By the time we'd established he was probably permanent it did seem to shut up more in the last few days of our trip and/or our lie ins weren't so long anyway as we were out and about so i guess we just stupidly left it - though wish i hadn't now i've heard that it's an ongoing nuisance. Trouble is we don't go out to our apartment very often. That was my first trip in 2 years and my husband only usually manages 1-2 visits a year (the joy of young children). So i guess even if we had chatted to them we'd have no idea if they'd done anything about it. I have the impression they are a working Spanish couple so I can't imagine anything much woud change. So i just have to bring it up with our president and hope he keeps an eye and pray my renters don't complain / have their holidays ruined by it.
Anyway thank you for all your feedback / opinions. I think that probably concludes the matter for now.
Kind regards
Caroline

Good luck with trying to get your garden president interested, like the majority of presidents he does not live on site and only visits a few times a year, indeed only half a dozen of the 40+ presidents are on site, this is not necessarily a problem but does make monitoring an ongoing problem an issue. Also is the dog owner on site full time or only for holiday periods? If they are only here a few days or weeks at a time it will make a case for continuous noise difficult to prove.
