I think the connections are different in spain for the gas bottles and bbq.
It might be worth checking out, you can probably get them from Leroy Merlin.

If you are thinking of bringing a bottle out on ferry or euro tunnel I don’t think you are allowed too???
Also you will not be able to get it refilled in Spain as the valve assembly is different.
Best option is buy new assembly and bottle in Spain as previously suggested.

Thank you and yes I do realise that we are unable to bring any filled cannisters over! I received a reply from Weber today it seems that it won't be compatible just have done some research and Weber bbqs seems ridiculously expensive in Spain compared to here. The reply from Weber as follows and assuming also for other people thinking of bring a bbq over from U|K (unless anyone knows any different)
Thank you for your recent enquiry via the Weber site.
All Weber Gas barbecues are designed and tested specifically for use with the gas supply in their country of sale. The regulator supplied with the barbecue in the UK will not fit to gas canisters or gas bottles available in Spain.
We would advise against converting your barbecue for use in Spain as the barbecue will not have been tested for use in conjunction with Spanish gas bottles and therefore we cannot verify that the barbecue will work efficiently or safely, equally we are unable to offer parts or advise on how to do this for the same reason.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks
Wendy

Marketing tosh I think! I brought a CADAC Gas BBQ over from the UK and all you need to do is get a Repsol gas bottle from a service station, a Spanish gas adaptor available from any DIY store like the one on Sector A at Camposol, and a piece of rubber hose to connect the two together. It is the same for the Weber as that was my second choice BBQ. JF

Im just wondering if thats right because every motorhome and most caravans you see going on the ferry have gas bottles installed. !
Are you sure you cant take one in the boot if its for own use or camping I believe you can.
Can I travel with gas?
Under International and UK legislation passengers wishing to carry gases in cylinders (pressure or gas receptacles) need to comply with the following provisions which the Company are obliged to apply in accordance with the appropriate regulations.
There may be other gases, not specifically listed below, that the Company can carry and which advice can be provided from our Freight Department on 0845 070 4000.
The responsibility for checking if substances or articles being transported need to be declared remains with the customer at all times; Stena Line can accept no responsibility for delay or refusal to accept such items for shipment if legal regulations or conditions have not been met or pre-advised to us at time of booking.
Propane and butane gas for private use only (i.e. camping purposes) may be carried in cylinders up to a total of 47 kg (excluding weight of gas receptacle).
This is from Stena Line web site.

You can take one as I have done so when camping but you declare it for inspection and definitely should not take one on the tunnel that is not secured as in a caravan or motorhome. However, what's the point as you cannot get Calor Gas refills in Spain. Once you have gone to the minor trouble of getting a Spanish gas bottle, it is easy to swap them. JF

Hi All,
This is not marketing tosh. When you buy a gas hob in the UK you mainly get a spare set of injectors to convert said hob to LPG. The holes are different sizes. One is lighter than the other & they burn differently, hotter/colder etc etc. Whilst most people use BBQ's outside there have been very recent UK instances of people dying using them in a tent. The reasons being most things when they combust produce carbon monoxide in varying degrees. So for UK natural gas its ideal explosive (ideal burn) is approx 1/5th of NG to air. If not then it will not combust correctly & so extra CO is produced. Or you can get someting called vitiation (flame lift off) where the gas is not burning correctly also produces CO & unused gas to be produced .
So if you plan to use a UK gas BBQ on ES gas then get it changed correctly by a qualified person as the flame ribbons may be incorrect and could lead to a build up of unused gas which goes bang eventually.
Or the other alternative is to tell us which garden you are on just so we can confirm it is not ours for when we get our free trip to the moon courtesy of you lol

Sorry, I thought we were talking about butane or propane gas BBQ's and not domestic cookers and fires etc. Weber and CADAC et al are made for the worldwide market and come with a choice of jets if you need them. But I am sure Repsol butane is the same as Calor butane. What is important is the correct gas regulator.
So it still is marketing Tosh and dont be put off as gas BBQ's are much cheaper in the UK.

Butane, Propane & Calor (brand) are all gases which all burn differently and with different consequences in the wrong hands.
I assume you also know how to correctly & legally check for leaks or is that tosh as well?
Still just let us know your jardin # & when it goes bang guess who won't be able to claim on their or the community insurance???? I'll give you a clue it won't be us.

Unfortunately, that is why the likes of Gas Safe & the HSE (in the UK & similar in ES) regularly imprison clueless people who seem to think saftey issues are marketing tosh after they have flattened a row of houses 'cos they thought they knew better.
You wouldn't go to a butcher for a funeral would you???

I think this is less about marketing tosh and actually based on weber's distribution agreements in countries...this is why you won't be able to get an official UK Weber stockist to deliver to Spain...
We sent two BBQ's out to Spain and bought the regulator for Spanish gas bottle in Chinese in Camposol - it was circa 10 euro's.

Lets build a mountain out of a mole hill......................
Most things in life rquire an element of common sense; there are, of course people who "have read a book" !!!!! - the worlds most dangerous "experts".
There are basically two types of gas available for domestic use, natural & LPG (butane, propane etc). Most appliances are supplied with Jets for use with either. Major manufacurers have accreditation for relivant countries where they sell their products; they will not support ANY type of problem outside a particular set of peramiters.
The gas BBQ with work quite happily on "Repsol" gas (LPG), with the correct jets.
You can purchase a cylinder via Repsol, complete with contract..... or buy a cylinder privately (€20-21).
Alhama Gardener is correct for a regulator - €10 from the Chinese on Camposol, the have all the correct date stamps, conformity etc.
Its that simple...........help this person!
P.S. Brooksies if you can not find a cylinder, pm me, I have a spare.
