Folks, does any one use Iberdrola for their electricity supply? Presume quite a few of you do. My charges have increased quite significantly in the past year, and jumped dramaticlly by over 25% between my last bill at the end of October just gone and the previous bill at the end of August - there were no visitors to my property over the period, therefore there were no usage charges, so this is a service charge increase. This is outrageous. Any one else get stung like this??? Thanks, M

Thanks MG. I read thru the comments and it seems as though Iberdrola, with their standing charges running at about €25 a month, are taking the preverbial.....maybe the thing to do is go online/contact them to see if I can opt for a better tariff - €50 every 2 months just for the privilege of having a connection is pretty outrageous......Mike

Agree with comments and suspicous debits from Iberdrola for virtual energy used - costs are escalating in a suspicous fashion....

Just back from a week onsite and picked up the Iberdrola bills for scrutiny, Its concerning when our keyholder turns off everything and the flat is empty and yet we have still charged for "energy" in absent periods

Happy to pay standing charge and IVA but sounds dodgy that non-residents are being overcharge and the money spirited away directly from our bank accounts.!

Our recent bill from 16/08 to 18/10 - all power off / appartment empty thoughout

Energy: 39.94

Service: 5.72

IVA: 9.49

Any thoughts / suggestions ... I see others have signed up online to monitor  - sounds sensble !

I think we have all noticed that the standing charge seems to take an ever larger chunk each time a bill comes in. I have spoken to Ibedrola customer service department, who were very good by the way, and speak excellent English. I have enquired about the night & day tariff which I think would work OK, even for those of us that only holiday at CDA.
Has anyone already subscribed to this and how is it working ?
They tell me that on this tariff you have to have your meter changed. What is the monthly charge for the new meter rental ?

Regards,

Thanks to you for picking up on this. I reckon getting a meter installed would be a pain in the a** and very costly, not to mention that the folks at Mileniun might have a small seizure about a new meter being installed and getting security clearance sorted....?? Other than that it doesn't look like there's much option except to take it on the chin from Iberdrola. Are there other providers out there that consumers can switch to...??

I'm pretty sure there are other providers.  I did mention in another post that it may be possible for the community to buy the electric on a yearly basis for consumption.  It may be worthwhile asking Mileniun to negotiate for this on our behalf.  Even in the UK some communities are starting to purchase their energy together to get better deals.  If Iberdrola and A.N Other company were asked to tender for, say, 100 million Kw hrs then they would soon sharpen their pencils on the prices I'm sure.................................

I do not live on Condado but on another Polaris resort at Terrazas de la Torre.

I have changed my meter and it certainly wasn't a problem. I went into my Iberdrola Office at Torre Pacheco one day and they changed it the next day. I cannot remember the exact charge but think it was 20-30 euros which they charged on the next bill. It doesn't take long and is just a question of changing the meters which I think just plug in and out and they just get the key to the meter cupboard from our security.

I have just had my bill for the last two months when the apartment was occupied for 5-6 weeks and the breakdown is as follows:

Capacity invoiced            5.75kw x 64 days x 0.102697 euros/kw day                  37.79

daytime energy               103 kwh x 0.178468 euros/kwh                                    18.38

nighttime energy              290 kwh x 0.088307 uros/kwh                                     25.61

Demand C discount          10% s/37.79                                                              -3.78

Electricity tax                   4.864% s/78 euros x1.05113                                       3.99

TOTAL ENERGY                                                                                             81.99

Rent of meter                   64 days x 0.02663                                                      1.70

Total                                                                                                               83.69

IVA                                 21%                                                                         17.57

Total Invoice                                                                                                   101.26

Unlike in the UK the daytime rate only runs from 12.00 to 22.00 in the summer and winter 13.00 to 23.00.

So we try to make sure we only use the water heater, washing machine and air conditioning/heating outside these times.
