They also appear to have a facebook page, but can't access that whilst I'm at work.
I just typed in Condado de Alhama La Cata restaurante telefono, and scrolled through all the hits.
We're going to give them another go (again!) when we come out in May, hopefully they'll have improved, although it couldn't get any worse than our last experience lol!

Had a very nice evening meal there last Saturday with my mum.
Service was excellent, all the hot food cooked very nicely and great desserts, nice bottle of reasonably priced red wine as well.
First time i ate there a couple of years ago it was like Fawlty Towers, worth paying just to experience it, so for me it's now unrecognisable from when it first opened !!
Also had good food/service at Big G's, The Sofia and the Condado Club when i've been over this year

Credit where credit is due. We went twice when we were out and service, food and wine was spot on. Just hope they don't get caught out in the summer as the waiting time was mostly what let them down last year. Also went to Bulgarian and Big Gs for food and had cocktails in Bokao all very nice. Didn't make it to French or Condado club but will have time to do all in the summer. Also had coffee and cake at the new cafe which was nice and of course drinks in the Clover and the Golf Club. We love it all :0) Liz

It wasn't the waiting time that got us, it was unfortunately the dreadful service we received, and top of that the food was cold and almost inedible. The time before, we had a great meal, although we had to wait a while, but that didn't bother us too much, and the waitress apologised for the wait.
I have never seen my husband so angry. We went there last September in the middle of the day, hardly anyone sitting outside, athough apparently all the spanish were sitting inside! The waitress forgot my Mum's drink twice, and when she finally came up with it slammed it on the table, huffing loudly. John complained in both spanish and english, and she just looked at him blankly until he finally shouted at her in spanish! He is the last one to lose his temper, so it just goes to show how mad he was!
However, with all the positive comments on this site we're going to have another go when we come out in May, and fingers crossed it'll be great!
btw loved Big G's, food and service fantastic!
Looking forward to sampling at the new and regular restaurants.

Just returned from a 10 day break and we also ate at La Cata for the last and final time.
We ordered starters which was served up whilist eating our main meal, which was also cold. It appeared that some of the dishes are prepared, especially the potatoes and vegtables and are just warmed up. New female waitress, clearly did not understand our inital order and had a bit of an attitude with us, so we declined all the food and left. But this is not the first time had similar problems last year, with bad service and cold food, but had hoped now they had made their kitchen bigger they would be able to cope better.
Unfortunately, the spanish ower really does not care!

I can't fault the place or the owner. If you are dissatisfied go and talk to the owner the next time you are out - he is very approachable and I am sure he would welcome the feedback and the opportunity to respond.

Don't have a problem with La Cata and enjoy the food and service there. They have accomodte us at last minute a few times and the only problem I can honestly say I've experienced was slightly underdone chips on our last vist a few weeks ago.

We ate in la cata a couple of times in the past 2 weeks and both times it was truly lovely. They have a new chef who I met. A really good waiter who is a local guy who speaks good English and is full of enthusiasm. A lovely new waitress who did great as it was her first night. The food was really nice. Everything was hot and beautifully cooked so no complaints from us this time. We were really put off last year as we had a pretty awful meal with long waits for both drinks and food but I'm glad we gave them another try as we saw a huge improvement and had a couple of really lovely evenings there.
New bakery is a super addition with delicious pastries. They didn't deliver but I would love bread delivered to our door every morning so if anyone is in touch with the owner can you feed that back please as I think he'd do a roaring trade in the summer with people having bread and croissants delivered early for their breakfast! I did mention it to the girl working in their but my Spanish is not great and her English was limited so not a good combination for suggesting ideas for the business!
Big Gs consistently good - great breakfasts and we had quite a few lovely meals there including one evening when we had a take away dinner too.
Condado club as good as ever! Great service - totally flexible with fussy eaters! Best bacon rolls ever!
I personally don't like the new set up of the Bulgarian - now called Sofia's . It is now split into 2 restaurants. When we went in we were asked if we wanted pizzas as the first area you go into is now a pizza restaurant. If you don't want pizza you go into the next restaurant which is the old Bulgarian menu with new additions like Mexican. I would prefer if they just kept to one menu where the kids could have pizzas and we could have steak/fajitas etc so for us as a family with kids - the new concept just didn't work. I dread to think how it will work in the summer when lots of families are there - I suppose we will just go to la cata instead as the kids can order a kids meal, a pizza and we can order what we want without having to sit in a different area of a restaurant. Shame as I loved the old Bulgarian but definitely not a fan of the changes.
Didn't go to the French restaurant but will as I'm hearing good things about it.
Going forward I'd love to see a pizzeria that delivers, a Chinese/Thai restaurant too would be great!
What else would people like to see?

What a pity that the Bulgarian has had to split the restaurant. I can understand the reason to maybe rent out a section if it is half empty for most of the year but why not allow their customers to order from both menue`s. A bit of a faff but I am sure that parents would not be put off if they have to have two bills. Both Resturants can keep their books in order & parents & children would be happy. If they do not get their act together I think that they could easliy loose trade & that would be a great pity.

Just a thought......the drinks are coming from the same bar so they must be splitting off the bar costs to the pizza restaurant so if they're doing it for drinks not sure why they couldn't do it for food......

We ate at La Cata on a few occasions during our recent visit. In our opinion, La Cata is far and away the best restaurant on Condado. Pizza and pasta were fantastic.
Also had pizza at the Bulgarian. Whilst this was OK, they would do a lot better to make sure the cheese on the pizza has melted. At one point I asked my wife if the pizza had sweetcorn on, but realised it was unmelted cheese which must be bought in sweetcorn sized bits ready to put on the pizza.
Condado Club always good for a decent meal. Big G's also pretty good, especially for a quick takeaway chicken burger.
Best meal of the holiday was at Amapola Restaurant in the Playa del Sol hotel in Bolnuevo. Fantastic food and very pleasant setting. Viaggio's (I think) in Puerto de Mazarron is also worth a mention for great tapas.
Worst meal of holiday was at the French Restaurant on Condado. I am not sure if the menu was changed for the 5 day bank holiday celebrations, but the menu we were presented with could not be further away from French (e.g. curry). Really can't work out what they were trying to achieve with this place. Is it a wine bar? Judging from the standard of food (bland, overcooked steak, etc) they can't seriously be positioning themselves as a French dining experience. The wine list suggest the focus is on being a wine bar.
Al Kasar is crying out for an Indian restaurant.

Hi David
I could not agree with you more. We must have a decent Curry restaurant. But not just one that caters for the english palate as that is usually either stupidly hot or just down right boring. A fine dining one is by far the best.

Visited a few of the restaurants last week when we were out. Had a very good breakfast at Big G's and the burger and steak menus look great but I am a bit passed that style of eating, the kids would love it. la Cata very good, excellent pizza and service and great wine list. They seem to have really geared up well for the coming season. Visited the French, menu is a bit shallow and not very French and most of all is way too expensive. Could be good but needs to set a different pricing structure or it will struggle. Had a meal at the Bulgarian, not very good at all with the quality of food for the price very poor. Didn't go to Bokao but would class that more as a late night wine bar than a restaurant. A curry house or Chinese would be great but they work on much tighter margins and VFM and realise that the footfall in the colder months is way too low. If it did happen though it would really shake up some very average standards in one or two of these restaurants who are making lots of money in the summer months. Some of them are in breach of their leases by closing down in the winter. Whilst I understand the business reasons for doing this, it is unfair on those businesses that stay open for the benefit of the community and actually lose money in the process. If this continues we could see all the businesses closing in the colder months which would be a retrograde step.

I may be wrong but i thought le troquest had relaunched itself as a mediterranean restaurant as Condado didnt seem to have too many French food lovers???

My family and I would love a Chinese or Indian on the resort also. I asked around about this when I was out recently and was told that the existing restaurant owners won't allow any other restaurants to open in Al Kasar. Sounds like an unfair monopoly to me but it's just what I heard and can't confirm. It's such a pity if this true as its the general public is missing out and surely more variety would be good for the resort.
