Have left this message on another thread for someone asking about the flooding and also asking about Coppola's. This was our experience in Coppola's tonight, and Raffael was nowhere to be seen. There was another older Spanish gentleman there who seemed to be in charge, but the girl working behind the bar was not happy that we were in there and it was after 11! We got the impression she wanted us out, then at about 11.30 two young men came in who were there to take her to a party in Balsicas. This explained everything. It was not a pleasant night, and we were made to feel very unwelcome. When we went in at 10.45 there were about 30 people in there. When we left there were still 2 people playing on the pool table. We were not made welcome in the slightest.
'Hi there, the flooding has not been too bad, worse on the part of the site just as you come in. We are in 293, and have not had any problems.
As for Coppolas, we have heard from Raffael himself that he will be closing on 22nd November. He has a new place in Balsicas and one in another area nearby I believe.
We are here until 5th November, and have been here since 20th September, and we have watched Coppolas go steadily downhill. We have been in there several times this week, and on one occasion all the items were taken off the tables, put into the back of a car, along with the karaoke machine and several other items, and taken away. We were made to feel very unwelcome on several occasions! We went in there tonight (Saturday 18th October) and we literally had the lights turned off on us while we were in there! Also, the ladies toilets are still shut, and at one point when we tried to use the disabled loo (the only one us ladies have) the barmaid (who is not a very accommodating girl) was in there getting herself ready for a party she was going to in Balsicas. On several occasions tonight with the very little Spanish we knew, we were basically being talked about by the staff and they wanted us to leave so they could go on to their party! It has been a very unpleasant experience using Coppolas of late, which considering the wonderful times we had in the year it opened, have been a real let down. Sorry to burst anyones bubble, but this is literally what we have encountered on a Saturday evening! I hope whoever takes over from Raffael does make the place available for those of us who pay our fees to have this facility!'

I posted this on the 29 June 2014, as usual people where in denial------------(USE IT OR LOSE IT, IVE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE ON LA TORRE, IF YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS NOW ( SUMMER ) GOD HELP YOU IN THE WINTER.. THE IDEA IS TO MAKE GOOD MONEY IN THE SUMMER TO CARRY YOU OVER THE WINTER.) But dont worry somelse will have a go for the start of next summer, then shut down again for next winter, Bar owners dont like haing to pay bar rents for the winters Fact

Hi newworld, it's not that we were in denial, we knew things weren't going right, but we kept being told different things by different people. Coppola's has been well used all through the last two and a half years, which is why none of us can understand why Raffael, who has actually been running it since May 2012, both summer and winter, was struggling. I have heard rumours that he is behind in his rent, and that he was made to take down the pegodas out the back of Coppola's because he hadn't got permission to erect them. I feel that once that happened Raffael felt there was no point any more and gave up.
From a personal point of view, I think the staff have changed so often that the service we received in the first year will never be met again - Alicia was an absolute star during the Summer of 2012 and she was always efficient and happy to serve you, no matter what the time! Whatever happens I don't think any of us can be accused of not using it enough! Even if we don't eat in it that often, many of us go in to drink regularly.
It will be a shame if it does close, because it is a great place to meet people. We will just have to hope that someone does take over the running of it and Coppola's is still here for us all to use.

Hi guys
I understand that IRM are taking over the bar when Raphael leaves - i think your block presidents will have info :-). The closure of the bar has nothing to do with residents not using it as i understand it either.
We are out there next weekend - hopefully it will still be open for us :-)
