My husband and I are travelling to Terrazas next week to potentially buy an apartment and are just wondering apart from the on site bar/restaurant what other amenities there are near by?  Are there any other bars or restaurants within walking distance?  Also we have two children aged 12 & 8 and after reading reviews on the area we are a bit concerned that there might not be much to keep them entertained.

Any information / feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there

We only brought ourselves in April so we aren't experts on the local area yet, but we do have an 11 year old son and he chose the resort when we came out as he felt safest there.  With the security controls it means he can have freedom on the site to got to the shop etc without us worrying so thats good.  The Spar shop is fine for little bits of shooing and does fresh bread and crossaints etc which is great for breakfast.  The pools are lovelly and there's plenty of them.  The bar is family friendly.  However you do really need to hire a car while you are out, then the world is really your oyster.  The beach is 20 mins away, Cartaghena is 30 mins and is great if the children love history.  Murcia is a large city and about 40 mins, the roads are amazing, you will be surprised how good the infrastructure is for such comparatively small volumes of traffic.  There is a big shopping centre, Eroski about 15 mins drive away and it has two games stores, we took an old xbox out in a suitcase just in case it is needed.

We will also be getting a scooter for our son and bikes for ourselves as the resort has 5km of road to ride around on safely with practically no traffic.

I have seen from posts that many of us have pre teen aged children so i think your children would soon make friends, as i am hoping my son will too.  Private message me if you have any questions

Tina

If you are buying at Terrazas you will need a car to go anywhere. There are not many facilities nearby, apart from the Industrial Area where there are some bars, restaurants and I believe there is a bowling alley there, but not 100% sure as never used it! There is a lovely beach down at Los Narejos, and also there is a long stretch of restaurants across the road from the Narejos hotel. There is also a nice beach at Los Molinos. We use the following to find places to visit, as the reviews are by people who have been to visit the places: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g187518-Activities-Murcia.html

There is a zoo and Water Park called Terra Natura about 20 minutes from Terrazas (by car) which a lot of people say is good. We have never been so can't comment. It is quite expensive though at 25 euros per person (think they do a family ticket) but you can spend all day there.

We don't have children that age (ours are grown up!) so am not sure if this is the right place for them. It is very quiet, and other than the pools on site and the few playgrounds, there is not much else for them. There is a huge shopping centre in San Javier called Dos Mares, and upstairs they have a bowling alley and lots of restaurants. There is also a small fair with rides and things for children at San Pedro del Pinatar and this guide tells you all the beaches near to Murcia. http://murciatoday.com/introduction-to-beaches-of-san-pedro-del-pinatar._9769-a.html#.U7BCW2cU_IU

I hope this will help, good luck with your decision, it is not an easy one!

Thanks for your replies!  I suppose it's a matter of making the visit and seeing for yourself.  I quite like the idea of hiring a car and exploring the various towns but it's also nice to have a few amenities within walking distance.  Who knows what sthe next few weeks will bring.  Decisions decisions :-)

Any other advice / opinions welcome.

While you are out check our Condado Alahma to compare, that really is a busy family site with lots of facilities for the children.  We just found it too big for us, but we can't deny we were very tempted by it :-)
