The Comments |
A few weeks ago I commentated on the u tube video of the Condado Fiesta.Saying I was sorry I missed it & what fun every one appeared to be having.
A few days later I received a PM with this comment
Are you aware the fiesta now is paid out your maintance fees?
I replied
No I didn’t. I did wonder how the money was raised & not just for the awards. I have no problems with some of our money funding events like this but I would have liked to be told about it. Am I the only one who was unaware of this!!
My Question is. Am I the only person who has not seen this listed on the emailed copy of accounts? And again I want to stress that I am not ad versed to this event being slightly funded by me
This evening I received another PM from the same person stating
I think there is slot we don't know!!!!!! Where does the 60Euro per stall at ok market go as far as I am aware it is not in the accounts?
Now this is another question I would love to have answered. Anyone know the answer??

I dont know where your information comes from but i can say that the owners paid for the 2014 Fiesta it was voted at the last AGM. Problem with AGM is that if majority vote for a proposal it happens? I was at the AGM for jardins 1 - 5 and there was only about 30 - 40 owners present out of 5 Jardins?
So 30 - 40 Owners agreed that the other x owners who were not there and had no idea this vote was being cast had no chance or say. I believe it was simular for the other 4 AGM,s
I believe only items on the agenda should be voted on and clear facts supporting the vote should be provide to all owners before the AGM so that owners can have thier say if the wish, by post e mail or otherwise,
In fact according top the Statutes most items require Unaminous agreement not a Majority this is extremily difficult to acheive, especially with 5 AGM's ?
In my six years of being here showing a great interest in our resort sadly i have to say most owners dont care till something is agreed they dont like? and many dont have a clue what is going on?

Hi Mick
Firstly can I comment on your comment " i have to say most owners dont care". Not every one is fortunate to be able to be on Condado @ the time of the meetings. My better half cannot take his holidays just when he wants to & the dates he is given are almost last minute. So the opportunity to be over for AGM`s is impossible. As for not careing, of course we do but we did elect garden presidents to keep us informed. It is not our fault or the fault of other garden residents if that president cant be ***** to let the owners know what is going on. It is possible that he does not even bother to turn uphimself.
We have a holiday booked from the 12th of this month & yesterday his boss asked him to cancel our holidays because a major strike due to happen during our time away.He wanted all senior managers to make them selves available. Lookily Ham had already set up cover via all of his managers so we will be over, unfortunatly it will not be at a time for another AGM meeting
As I mentioned @ the begining of my comments,I recieved my info via a PM. Not going to divulge the persons name as it is evIdent that the person did not want to air their comments on an open forum
I will repeat for those not understanding my comments
I DID NOT & DO NOT have any problems ith some of our community fee`s going to what appeared to be a well organised &enjoyable event.
All I wanted to know was why I had not seen anything in black & white on the emailed copy of the accounts.
Re The Market. I had never given it a thought. Just presumed the people paid a fee to Millenium. It was the comment
via the PM where does the 60Euro per stall at ok market go as far as I am aware it is not in the accounts? that made me ask the same question
The above comment is NOT mine.
Jan

We had exactly the same question which was answered by Mileniun that the market is taking place on the land owned by IRM so they get the surplus of any activity taking place on their grounds, meaning that as well all costs for cleaning and maintainance are covered by them. We have voted in favour of the fiestas at the last AGM which was properly announced beforehand, sorry but if owners cant make it themselves to an AGM then they should naybe think about leaving a proxy with somebody they trust and represents them unbiased.

Great Idea Rob & Bev
But how do you find out what exactly is going to be in the agenda.
We have never had any communication from our garden representative. I am continually baffled by the fact that he is continually voted in but does not appear to do anything.

Havent posted for some time, but feel strongly about this. Through my own failing I didnt realise the owners were responsible for paying for the Fiesta, I didnt realise it was an agenda item. It certainly means I'll try to be more aware. Sadly the few posts I've seen on FB etc are that it was all a bit miserable and the fireworks weren't much (did they happen at all?) I'm not sure if its ever been very worthwhile and I certainly dont want to pay to host it. This year I even feel the Saturday markets weren't very good and they had far fewer stalls of items I dont want and I dont think many people wanted as most seemed to have a stroll around and retire back to Al Kasar.
I'm not being negative, just realisitic. I'd rather have a vibrant monthly market than a weekly market of dreary stalls selling cheap watches, handbags and masses of shoes. The food stalls appear ok but I have read of people buying a bag of fruit/veg but not being allowed to select the items themselves and getting home to find bad fruit and veg in the bag. The stalls with ornaments, water filters and so on look more professional but there's only so many of those people need.
Equally I'd rather have a one day/night Fiesta that was vibrant and exciting that a few nights under par.
We really need to get the fact that owners have to fund this Fiesta out in the open, so we dont do it again!

The trouble with the AGM's is that Mileniun made it so difficult for us to register our vote at the last one that I'm sorry to say we didn't bother. On top of that the last time we gave our proxy vote the person involved didn't turn up to the AGM so our vote couldn't be used. We are not out at the times of the Fiestas, but that doesn't mean we're not happy for our fees to be used, but would like to be better informed by both Mileniun and our Presidents.

We all receive the emails from Millenium so how hard would it be for them to include Agenda's including votes to be cast and for people to vote/reply via email?

Mileniun is sending us all kind of information, we have as well received all AGM docs by email. Dont think that they can cast a vote by email, we had this issue already in another comunity where we own and the answer was NO, this has to be executed in presence or by proxy vote following the local laws.

I think I have said this before, but I will say it again, For our community fees at 260 odd euros a quarter, just look around at your resort and facilities and thank the lord for what we have for a contribution of so little! A friend of mine is trying to sell his caravan on Ribby Hall near Blackpool, which is parked in a muddy field as their community fees are now over £5,000 per year, YES, 5 GRAND PLUS!!! So sit back in the sunshine when you can get there, have a nice little drink and stop whinging.

I wonder why there is so little public information about who the 'presidents' are and what they do. I know I can write to Mileniun and ask, but really the 'presidents' at every level should be telling the community they represent who they are, why they are there and why we should vote for them.
Does anyone know if they are paid for their responsibilities (whatever they may be)?

Some L2 presidents do inform their gardens via L3 but others dont! Depends where on Condado you are!
Paid??? Dont make me laugh, it costs me to be a L2 president, dont even get a brew or a butty in meetings that can last up to 5 hours if this answers the question..

Cheers chaddyowl.
Thanks for clarifying that.
Now that I realise this is a voluntary role, and having been/still am in many such roles myself, I shall temper my comments accordingly.
