Hi i was just wondering if anyone else has had large electricity bills even though your property is not in use. Also has anyone changed electricity supplier from Iberdrola and if so was it an easy switch. Many thanks

My Iberdrola bill is around E35 every 2 months for an empty 2-bedder.
Having checked again, I was paying E35 ish every 2 months until August last year, but that shot up to nearer E60 since then.

We have had two very large bills from ibedrola. It appears that they had read the wrong meter. The lower apprtmnt has been occupied since day one and we only come over two or three times a year. when we checked the reading it belonged to the lower apprtmnt. We contacted ibedrola and they said we had to pay and then claim it back. We didnt do that. we didnt pay and spoke to mileniun. Anna called the head office and after talking to the contact we were told to go to the shop in mazaron. We also found out that if they have taken the direct debit out you can ask your bank to refund and they will chase the payment. Not sure what the time limit is on this.
Could be worth checking the readings against the meters around your apprtmnt first and see if they have misread.

neilp,
on the subject of having your bank refund the direct debit, I was given this option by Sabadell over a huge Socamex water bill. I was warned however that if I did this, Socamex would cut me off and remove the meter, and I would have to pay for reconnection, if and when they were ready to do so. Short and curlies.
Let us know how you get on in Mazarron and any consequences if you get the money refunded by your bank.
Good luck
