Hi All, Can anyone let me and other forum visitors know what is going on at Corvera Golf ? I have read online that Corvera Golf may be for sale, but if so what exactly would be sold, it is my understanding that the properties in each of the different phases at Corvera Golf are owned by different banks, so what would be for sale ? The golf course or the 'whole resort' ? The latest news on the airport seems to suggest an early 2016 opening ? If and when it eventually opens it would be excellent news for Corvera Golf but my concern is can we wait that long ? On my visits to Corvera Golf i still think it's a high quality development in an excellent location, it just needs proper marketing, it is so frustrating. I still hope that we will see Corvera Golf reach it's full potential with a hotel, golf club, spa, shops, bars, etc which is exactly how we all envisioned it i'm sure. Any news would be gratefully received, but please no personal message and chinese whispers, there are lots of public visitors to this site and we should be singing Corvera Golf's location and property quality virtues from the rooftops and stopping the silly secret squirrel stuff that is in my opinion partly responsible for our current situation. Happy New Year to all by the Way !! Yours, Simongolf.

The actual situation is that the golf course has now been closed for some months, the course is not being maintained and is heavily overgrown, the greens are dead.
There are various rumours doing the rounds about somebody acquiring the course, the clubhouse and the sports facilities, these are only rumours
The clubhouse is currently closed, we believe that it is because it is so quiet and it should open again at Easter, the gym is still operating
The properties, pools and gardens on all phases are being well maintained, the site is not run down and operating normally for rentals but we have changes all of our listings to reflect the closure of the course, it remains a prestigious resort with a potentially great future
The ownership of the properties is separate to the course, there are 7 different banks involved and the banks have taken back numbers of properties, on various phases, which are available for sale from €55k but the largest percentage of properties are still owned by the individual who purchased the resort from the developer
The banks properties are not really selling, even at the low prices and it is a pity that the various banks don't wake up and realise that an open golf course and facilities are key to the future sales on the resort and ongoing holiday rentals
No properties on the site have been rented out or made available under any Social Housing schemes, long term renters have increased, especially with new airport staff, but these are all standard commercial agreements
A large percentage on airport staff rent on Corvera and they are still employed but more information is available on the Murcia Today forum including a new announcement on a freight depot and AENA claiming that they plan to bid for the facility and they agreed to close San Javier
That is the way that it is right now but things change in Spain, as they say The Truth is Out There, somewhere but today there really too much good news but if and when we have an airport things will change and I know that some banks are waiting for this to happen

Hi All, Thankyou for that great reply, yes i agree very much that if the banks got together and bought the course jointly then it would surely kick start the sale of the properties under their control. I guess with the basic course layout is intact, it's a case of replacing the grass on the greens, replacing various plants and trees and then the all important ongoing maintenance and watering, if and when a new owner for the golf course is found. I have read about other golf resorts in Spain having groups of volunteer owners doing some mainentance and watering, are their enough owners permanently or regularly on-site to consider this ? It is very frustrating for all the property owners, i suppose the opening of the airport will be a very big boost when it comes, but if there is a golf course operator or resort management company out there intertested in buying the golf course it must be available for a lot less money now than it would be after the airport opens. Thanks again for the reply, i think it's far better to keep this sort of discussion open, rather than just a handful of owners knowing whats going on and everyone else being kept in the dark. A visitor to this forum might just be connected to the right people to help move this resort forward. Or we may end up having to help ourselves.

Hi All, just out of interest Roy has anyone contacted the banks to see if they would be prepared to group together and buy the golf course ? When is the AGM so that this idea could be put forward ? or could an EGM be called ? Could the 400 Plus Existing Corvera Golf Property Owners be involved in a purchase of the Golf Course ? What if anything is Housing doing ? Lots of questions, hopefully yourself or someone else has some answers.

Hi All, Roy i have not received any PM from you, but i would rather you posted normally anyway, all the secrecy has been a real problem for Corvera Golf in my opinion, the secrecy is hurting and not helping, look where the secrecy has got us so far !! There are 400 plus owners at Corvera Golf and only a little group of 20 - 30 owners seem to know what is going on, everyone else is in the dark, that's not right. It's time to help ourselves a little bit i think, Mr Rizo might own the Golf Course but he is obviously not thinking of it as an investment at this point, if that was the case he would be maintaining the course. If all the owners at Corvera Golf contact housing and the banks and ask them 'What are you doing about the golf course' ? This must surely help. Otherwise the option must be call an EGM or attending the AGM and demanding action. Another possibility would be for owners to get together at their own independent meeting and decide a course of action. Would be good to hear from other Corvera Golf Owners too.

The next main opportunity for owners to get a presentation of the situation is at the upcoming AGM's whcih are being held in ewarly March, individual ones for each phase and then one for the Entity and all owners would have by now received the agenda and accounts
The only was that ANYBODY can buy the course is if the current owners, which includes some banks, agree to sell the course, the course is iin a mess and more like a country park now that golf course, it will need a lot of work.
AS far as the contact between tyhe various elements, owners, Housing, is concerned they can ask for information but the owners and banks simply don't respond
I doubt that very much will happen until there is DEFINATE news on the openning of the airport

I would like to see some concerted effort to get transparency. I.e. to get a clear view on what the banks are doing to try and move forwards with the resort and more specifically what actions they are taking against the current owner. I know we are subject to Spanish law but it seems obscene to me that we have all invested significant amounts, have a vested and real interest to get the place up and running and yet we are absolutely clueless about what is happening or likely to happen in the future. I think it is reasonable to demand from the banks what action they are planning on taking. Andy

As owners on Corvera we went out for part of our recent school half term. Yes, the course is overgrown and there are isues to be sorted, but lets put out some positive messages. The location is stunning. Looking out towards the Mar Menor on a clear day under a blue sky is wonderful. Its not too hot at present so its possible to explore some of the towns, cities and mountains nearby using Corvera as a base.
We spent an incredible evening at Aguilas watching one of their fiesta processions; yes even in winter! We hadn't expected to be watching a procession for 3 hours but the colourful costumes, the dancing, the floats, (not forgetting the free sangria being handed out) and the vibrant music made for a wonderful time. You can tell 'Health and Safety' hasn't reached Spain with people jumping on and off the floats.
Miguel, who had the bar on site before the clubhouse, has opened a new bar at the stables and some of the bars in the village are being improved - so it is not all bad news.
Can't wait to be back at Easter for further fiestas. With the £ at 1.36 euros its getting cheaper by the day. H and JC

having seen this post I also believe that there isn't enough positive news on Corvera Golf, if you read some old posts and information you would belive that the communities are run down and that we are full of low cost social housing renters which also isn't true
Yes we don't have a golf course open but still this year we still have many returning guests
Really as a result of requests i have created a new Facebook site for the development to be used by owners, renters, holiday makers etc, the link is above and I have had great feedback already and I would hope that the sort of comments in the previous posts will be added there

Good one there Roy. Not that into Facebook myself but this should be a great help with keeping in touch and spreading the word about Corvera.
Am hoping to head out there in May with a few friends to finally show them my gaff - maybe I can talk some of them into investing there whilst prices are low - who knows??
Regards,
Ian
