NON RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS TAX

We have paid this tax on each of the last few years and have again been advised that we need to pay 725 euros for 2015.  However, lots of people we have spoken to have said that they have not paid this tax and that if you do not rent out your property you do not need to do so.

We do not rent our property.  Could anyone advise us as to whether we actually have to pay this tax and if not, what we have to do to prove that the tax does not apply to us.

If you are talking about the IBI it is the Spanish equivalent of Council tax and is paid by all

yes, sounds like the IBI tax to me.  There is also an annual personal non resident income tax; regardless of whether you earn any rental income from your property.

Thats is IBI tax payed for property owners all over Spain , spanish people or foreigners

Best to pay IBI by direct debit else you will find that puntive costs and interest charges accure.  This happened to me.

You may not always get the invoice or see reminders.  I went for two years without sight of any documentation and then got stung with 200 Euros of costs and interest.

If in doubt visit the town administration offices in Manilva.  Take your bank details and INI number.

There is a confusion here, as there are TWO taxes on your property:

1. The IBI which goes to the local council, this is well knonw, and this is what you are talking about. But there is also a

2. Non-resident property tax that goes to the central tax office!!  (as  am not allowed to post links, not enough post) have a google search! There is plenty of info aboutthis out there.

This 2nd tax the one that many people don't pay........

This second tax is the annual income tax on property, payable by all, and is computed and returned on tax form 210

As it is somewhat complictated and based on figures on your IBI bill it is best to let a solicitor or specialist complete it on your behalf.
