My sister is out at El Rincon this week using my apartment in block 12, she was informed on Tue by a security man this week that an apartment in blocl 11 was broken into, we don't know if this was a ground floor apartment or an upper floor apartment. I have people on the ground out there who are looking after my apartment and Im trying to establish how it happened. When I was out last week I did notice that the pedestrian door was not locked at any time as there was no spring latch in the door itself, if anyone knows more information it would be good to share what you know. If I hear any news I will post it soonest.
Iain

Sorry to hear of another break in. I do know that in March there was one and apparently they got in through the bathroom window, so it must have been one of the end apartments.

Hi Iain
We was at El rincon in March to get our keys and this was a concern of mine, the gate had no lock in it and the sliding car gate had a mind of its own. I told our agents who said they would look into it.
I would have thought by now the lock had been fixed but obviously not, this is all we need passers by strolling in and helping themselves to our hard earned belongings.
It seems to be the same story; once they have your money they don’t give a hoot.
We are out there again at the end of May so if its not fixed by then I will kick up a fuss.

Hi all, pleased to hear things are moving along for you all and some have now signed. With regard to security, take all the precautions you can, change locks, grills on windows. I was broken into just 2 days after moving in (La Mirada - opposite) I am on the first floor, they climed the pillars, and levered the bedroom windows open (grilles and alarms were due to be installed the following day), I never thought they would climb up a floor! I also have a grille on my front door, as our security doors were unreliable when we first moved in, and someone tried to tamper with my front door locks. It seems that the trend is the break ins occur in the first fews weeks of completion, our security doors are now secure and have not heard of any break ins for a long while now, so please all take care and chase up the security of communal entrances
regards
Lesley

Thank you all for the information on security - it has been very useful. In fact my lawyer emailed me today as she is acting for an owner on El Rincon who had a lot of stuff stolen and there was no sign of a breakin so whoever did it had keys. We have changed all locks to be on safe side.

Pleased your'e getting things sorted, if you get a minute could you possibly let us know how you managed to change the locks and which ones, i.e. front door, security gate, patio doors etc..
As a point of interest when I was there looking at phase 2 over Easter I managed to walk around the whole complex on several ocassions and was only challenged once by an old guy who told me there were loads on problems on site with security, when I suggetsed I took this up with the builder he backed down and suggested that there usually are problems on developments in the early stages of completion and that the residents should request from Gomendio that a permanent security guard is employed (Concierge as he suggested), makes you wonder !

Has the security guy gone from the site now - he was there when I was in spain in March, however the builder employs this security for protection of their property/materials on the building site, you have probably noticed that the builder has now moved all his equipment right in front our our building by the wall, probably as we have lighting there which may deter anyone. My sister has just completed her villa in Hondon and the builder provided a security guard whilst building was in progress, all the owners are now discussing to keep this security guard on and contribute a small amount each owner, I think this is a great idea. Maybe someone could bring up this idea at your first meeting of owners.

Hi
Well our friends the hubby of whom is very handy has sorted out the locks. Regarding the magnetic fobs for the car park we were given the name of the Gesfin Property Management Company - they can be found in an apartment block called Molino Blanco II which is at La Zenia on the inland side opposite the commercial area where there is a big shop "Bed Specialist" along the teaxi stands at La Zenia - I have been in contact with a very nice lady called Linda Ziemann who speaks English - she said that they are watching the security on the premises and will keep in touch. It seems a few security firms would like to have a monopoly on the site and so they are trying to tout for business - hope this helps. We got this info from another owner at El Rincon - everyone is really helpful
