Having just returned from los Alcazares it appears that the burglaries for the moment have subsided lets hope it stays so. Do not let your guard drop though, there are many scams going on to relieve you of your hard earned cash.

Good to hear! We are going back for the half-term week in May. We have had the extra grilles fitted (as we are ground floor) so hopefully that should allow us to rest a bit easier. We are hoping the weather will be a bit better than when we we were over at Easter! We will spend our first night in our apartment and we can't wait!!!
We received the minutes of the community meeting. Did I read it correctly that we are expected to leave the main entrance door to our block unlocked? Surely this does help increase security? The only reason I can see for doing this is in case of fire? Obviously if this is the 'rule' that's what we'll do, but I thought I should check.

I do not know if your locks are the same .Ours were changed due to burglaries which enabled us to double lock with key. At the meeting in Feb it was brought up that we may be breaking fire & safety regs by doing this,so was asked not to double lock until checked out.
The other problem with double locking was that you cannot use the remote open from your apartment which may have been an oversight when fitting!!,

Just info for anyone on Puerto Marina complex 2 whilst over there for a weeks break, two apartments were tried to break into, one whilst the occupants were upstairs on there solarium.for this one they had a key possibly copied whilst building!!.
It may be worth changing locks when you first move in.

we where over in July for a week and the person underneath us on the 1st floor where broken into and had money and camera stolen. I think they were watched going out. They lifted off the patio window !!! I think Security grills are a good deterrent

I agree with you - I think grilles are at least one more layer the burglars have to try to get through and we are hoping they will avoid the apartments with the grilles. It may be a bit tedious, but we were so carefull to lock the grilles every time we left the complex and even when we were all at the pool we had the grilles locked (and our apartment is right in front of the pool!!!) With so many people wandering around you can never be sure who is meant to be there and who isn't. We are in block 13 and were worried to hear that ground floor in block 13 (we are ground floor in block 13) had been hit! Our key holder has checked and all is well!
