How many of us are actually going to live in Arenal Duquesa ?
We were hoping to be moved in by now and the delay is playing havoc with our planning.

our intension is certainly to live there eventually, although not straight away. we are going to let it out when we not there as we both work long hours and i have my own business so getting out there won't be so easy too often but if we move we would probably keep our house over here and rent that out.

We are also hoping to live out there and have already sold our property in England at the mement living with my sister!! We have now instructed an english firm of solicitors (she is Spanish) to confirm what the situation is. If I hear from her I will definately let you all know. If at the end of June I feel they will be in breach of contract and we shall probably go out there and buy something else-not what we want to do.

I hve just had a message from my sols. They have organised a meeting with Gerens on the 24th of May. In this meeting the sols will discuss with Gerens the progress on the development as well as obtaining the First Occupation License. I will post the reply

I telephoned Gerens yesterday and was given a new telephone number. Telephoned them today and the lady stated she could not give any information as they had many problems but to telephone her next week. Your solicitor must be on the ball as mine has made no contact at all during all of this confusion.

no, mine neither!! i;m bloody sick of it now. seems only information i can get is off the internet myself. i'm gonna find out as much as i can when i get there in couple of weeks, i'm determined to get on that site too! i'll break into my own apartment if i have to (obviously it'll have to be late and after a few drinks!)

e-mailed my solicitor today and was told that there was no work done on the site for the last month as new company were evaluating the status of works reached by the previous builders and making an inventory of materials. (Although she said Phase one is actually finished) No completion date yet as Town hall have asked Arenal to finish the street from the main road. Solicitors are meeting with developers next Thursday and will discuss new expected completion date......

Can anyone give me the name of their solicitors as I have sent an e-mail to mine today and she does not know anything about the meeting. Any update would be beneficial. She is saying I could get my money back with the Bank Guarantee but that is not what I want.
I just wish someone would tell us the truth for once.

I just went on to the Gerens website www.gerens.com and used their contact page, but obviously doesn't work.
I tried the number you posted and a receptionist said " Una momento" and left me holding on for 7 minutes.
I think that a personal visit may be called for.

I get the impression that a lot of people are paniccing here, the first rule of buying or investing in property is PATIENCE. This is a high quality development. Duquesa is an area which is going to be a very up market place to live or holiday. The longer it takes to completion the more the prices are going to increase.

Although Arenal were very poor communicators, Paul and Adan in the sales office always gave me good information. Gerens are geared up for large corporate clients and do not seem to understand the retail sales market. They should realise that they are now messing around with peoples lives, as for many of us, this will be our home, not just a holiday apartment. Our apartment in block 7 was virtually ready to move into when we visited in October and totally ready when we visited in March. What upsets me is that Gerens have been in control for 6 weeks now and have been unable to construct a single letter or e-mail to the people who are ultimately paying their fees.

When u say 'personal visit' does that involve combat gear and a side arm! If as people say Phase one is complete that I am sure the bank will want their money as soon as they can. This is Spain we are dealing with, if its not dealt with between 10am and 12pm then forget it. Afternoons just dont work for them, so lets hope the meeting with my sols is in that 2 hour window!! I started my purchase when we still got votes in the Eurovision, how the world has moved on since then. I am about to book a holiday villa close to the site. As soon as I have paid for my holiday in full the apartment will be ready for occupation!!!!

thats exactly what i'm waiting for!!! i've booked an appartment in the marina for 8th-16th june and i bet i get a phone call saying licence is in before i go. if i do will you all pay for my appartment as i have assisted in getting completion?
i'm going to drive some poeple mad whilst i am there and if anyone wants me to visit anywhere i'll go find out what i can. where are gerens based? i'm also going to try and get in the town hall in manilva to see if i can get any information on what is happening. nobody seems to be doing anything for me, my lawyer, my buying agent or my mortgage brokers... they all don't seem to care what is happening or when completion takes place. beware to the lot of em when i get there....
