Thanks Slacey99 for posting the pic in shared photos. I count 10 sun beds.  I don't like the pond though.  I hate that though the pools have to be fenced to stop children wandering in the pond is open and it was harbouring mosquitos when we were there last...

I would think that one of the reasons why mosquitoes could be breeding there is the fact that the pond is NOT funtioning!  Why isn't the pond functioning and filtering through the water?  Yet another item to raise with AEA.  It has been there for months - about time it was working!

Hi all, the middle pool is fenced in because it is part of the spanish pool licence requirements (and not to stop children wandering into the pond area from the pool area). Pools over a certain size also have to have a life guard (when officially open, June-Sept) if over a certain size (as is the case with the bottom main pool) This is also a licence requirement.  AEA have not arranged a bottom pool life guard yet as the bottom pool was only opened (briefly last Nov) so they have only had 8 months to arrange it

As for mosquitos in the middle pond feature...  I think you guys around the pond will get eaten alive as a fountain filter will not stop them ( I know as I hav a pond myself ) The only way will be either add something to the pond ( must not harm children or dogs etc) or plant the shallow parts with pond plants and stock with small fish that will eat the mosquitoe larve.

Washing up liquid breaks the waters surface tension and kills the larve as they can not cling to the surface and therefore suffocate, but as soon as you turn the fountain on you will get mountains of foam.

Thinks its a problem we as residents will have to sort once we have more controll.

Regards Andy

Thanks Andy.  I agree the mosi situation is going to be ongoing..

When I spokeof the fencing my point was that the pond is also a drowning hazard for youngsters. (The pools in theory aren't because they are fenced). I know youngsters should be supervised but I'd hate to think one my wander off and get curious and fall in.

When we were last over there a few weeks ago we went to AEA about the pond and I was handed a complaints form to fill in.  I also spoke to Antonio about this and he suggested that if we all complain by e-mail AEA will have to do something about this.  Personally I would just like to see the thing filled in tiled and made into another sun lounger area around the pool.  As when we are all there and the development is finished I think we will be fighting to get a place in the sun let alone a sun lounger.

I totally agree Carleen.  Either that or another  very small and shallow pool for parents and children to sit around .

Think you're right, dont think there is enough sun lounger space there once DV is fully occupied. Its distance from the port and beaches will make the local pools very popular and busy. Think it needs to be filled in. The mosquitoe problem will be terrible if it is not...

Complaining to AEA is nearly always a waste of time, and in any case it should be the the developer who takes responsiblity and the cost for putting right  this health and safety hazzard not the community.

Am not surprised that Antonio who works with RyF suggested putting the burden onto AEA as he knows they never get anything done

I would therefore suggest directing the emails to Ros y Falcon with copies to AEA

Michael

Well I would just like to let you all know that the pond has been trained.

It's a start at least.

Good - does that mean it's being filled in and tiled or grassed over?  Hope it's not just goint to remain an empty pond!!

Hi

We've just arrived back from a lovely week in the sun.  Would advise everyone to take insect repellent as we were covered in mosquito bites and had to resort to buying electric repellent plugs.  They were working on the pond while we were there on Friday 29th June and turned on the fountain which looked quite good.  They then drained the pond and when we left yesterday it was still empty.  I'm sure this is causing the mosquito problem and agree that it would be better filled in and made into another sun bed area.  On another point, there did not appear to be any empty sun beds around the pool yesterday morning which is a concern as there are not many apartments occupied at the moment.  I intend to email Rosa at AEA regarding this problem as she does seem to respond to emails.

Hello to one and all!

We have just had a fantastic week - lovely weather.  We went to look at an apartment in block 11 and have decided to go ahead and purchase.  The pond had been filled and the fountain turned on.  We were told there had been problems because of little water in the pond, which in turn had caused mozzies to breed.  This now seems sorted and we were told fish were to be introduced into the pond.  All in all things looked very nice.  Plants were in flower and looked very colourful.  We used the lift which was ok.

Can someone tell me who aea is please?  Any information regarding elections of president etc would be welcome, as dont know much about how community will work and pull together.

Regards

Congratulations on your purchase Mimmie.Pleased the place looks good. I arrive next Thu.  Aea are the management company. You will get a welcome pack when you complete your purchase.  The Agm is in July I think.  There is a thread on this board somewhere I believe.

The pool may contribute to mozzies, but we have a stream running down the valley between the hills of DV and Coto Real.

At my house in Manilva we have no streams and we have mozzies but you will also get other insects that cause bites, tiny flies and no buzz.

So use repellant, citronella candles when sat outside and inside use wall plug devices.

Jeff is correct as we face the stream he mentions and we have to have all tha paraphanalia to combat the mozzies. Incidentally I spoke with our president about lack of sunbeds when he visited on Tuesday and yesterday a load more beds appeared, as if by magic. There are 31 around the large pool, 10 around the small pool and 29 around pool at block 10.

Great to here the fountain is working by the pool between blocks 10 and 12.  I'd be interested to see a picture or two if anyone is out there now or going soon.

Regards

Steve
