visited Almerimar

Hi everyone.

First time on message board. my wife and I have bought a 2 bed 1 bath app in block 2 - 3rd, floor Dec 06.

We had a three night stay at the AR Almerimar hotel 23 June to see the progress of PortoFino which seems to be progressing well.

We went into Proindal office on the Monday morning and spoke to an English girl who showed us the kitchen and bathroom layout , she confirmed that we had been misled by MRI and we don't have a choice of kitchen or bathroom, fortunately we do like the colours.

We asked about the numbering of the floors- first floor is at pool level.

There are 586 apartments and 200 still to sell.

The old golf hotel opposite block one is going to be a 5* hotel and applying for a casino licence.

We visited the Mercadona at the side of block one and was impressed with the size and variety of produce.

It was compulsory for us to try the local Tapas bars and restaurants -cant remember anything else ,Adios.

Thanks for the update ian3rob, sounds like Almerimar is going to be THE place, they don't put 5* hotels just anywhere.

Shame about the floor numbering, yet another dupe from MRI, we have bought 2nd floor block 2 and were even shown that this would have a view over the roof of the building by the marina!! The guy pointed to what we now know to be the 4th floor!!!

Still it will be a decent apartment in a good area and the pool will be warmer than the lido at Ilkley (land of my youth).

 

We have also returned from a recent visit, last week in fact.  We saw the show flat which MRI have furnished, it is a one bed apt in block 1.  It hadn't been cleaned when we were there and there is no electricity so the bathroom is very dark but the camera took a good pic with the flash.  I'll post the pics later this week.

We found a local company in the marina called DBJ, near the supermarket and gym that can provide furniture packages at much cheaper prices than MRI.  They also provide property management services as well with one major advantage being they hold the key locally.

There is also a local estate agents called Alcor Properties situated in the square where the Tapas bars are located.  They too offer a property management service.

Both the above have web sites where they will display your property.

We were told rental in the area is better the closer you are to the marina so we will all be in a prime location.

The manager of the local bank is Italian but speaks very good English and they have offered mortgages on some of the properties, we intend going back in Oct this year to get exact room sizes for our apartment in Block 6 so I hope to see her then to see what she can offer.

                        put them on the thread.
                        did proindal give any indication when the apartments would be ready,looking at some previous photos
                        i cant see blocks 1 2 or 3  being ready in feb/march. ( bought in block 3)

The website address for Alcor Properties is www.alcor-properties.com.  Alcor Properties offer a property management service on the basis it may get them custom should you wish to sell your apt or buy more property.

We were told all of the blocks would be completed by the Summer of 08.  Block 7 is virtually complete, people have been allowed in to measure up and have air con fitted, block 6 is still being painted and completed inside.  There is still loads of work to do regarding the rest of the blocks, the garages and the commercial area beneath the apartments.  Proindal have been accurate with their dates so far so I am happy enough to accept them saying Summer 08 for everything.  I understand the local council will taking some of the commercial space and there is also going to be some sort of health centre there as well.  We intend going back in Oct 07 as we should be able to get inside block 6 then to get exact room sizes.  From what we can tell so far the single bedroom in our 2 bed penthouse apt will be too small to take two single beds so think about that when thinking about ordering a furniture pack.

We have also purchased in Block 6, 2nd floor and are hoping to rent our apartmetn out on a long-term basis we obtained an update recently re the construction and all looked very nice indeed. Good to hear about the 5* hotel and possible casino in the area also ....

We will be up in Vera in August and will possibly pop down to see how things are going.

Yeah thanks Ducatiman!  The more I see the finished article the more real this all gets.  It reminds me I need to get me finger out as regards NIE and Mortgages etc!  Scary biccies!

Oh and Noel, Jeff is alive and kicking lol and doing very well!  I'll let him know you were asking about him!  =0)
