Hi there
Having recieved the Agenda for the AGM, I see the arrears are over E17,000 which isn't good. I n otice also it's mainly the Spanish residents. What are the propsals for recovering that money? how long will that take?

Hi Francine and Others,
Agree with your comments. What I don't understand is that we have all read articles on the site by Maria de Castro about the Law and Community rules and obligations, so why are we not taking her advice and indeed using her to recover these debts;have the illegal satelite dishes removed and the door to the swimming pool steps restored to
its original status. Under the law, we can recover the costs of such actions, so why not. Isn't time we started to get Tough and deal with these issues for the benefit of the Community as a whole!
regards,
Paul Smith

Hi Paul, Totally agree with you. If we recovered these debts we would be able to perhaps have higher gates down to the pool, and also get other problems soughted out. It seems to me that these people who owe this money are putting two fingers up to the rest of us. See you in Sept. Janet & George

I understand the frustration here. The debt is actually an improvement on last year. Nearly 6,000 Euros of the debt is related to the garage doors so this is an extraordinary cost.
Debtors have received letters from Gaemu which will be followed up with legal action. These things don't happen very quickly and there are some very complex situations in between recovering those debts.
Francine, some of the biggest debtors are actually English as are most of those with the illegal dishes.
Remember that many people will pay up before the meeting so that they can vote, I know various owners will be doing this.
In any community there will always be a debt. Last year the debt was 19,000 Euros. Taking away the garage doors this year the debt is under 13,000 Euros. So it is getting better.
This is a very complex community and as with any community things take time.
Justin

Sorry for not posting sooner, just been really busy.
Meeting went really well. No real problems and I'm staying on as president to continue what we've done so far.
The budget was accepted by all. It's gone up because of the lift maintenance costs, electricity, etc. Most people's fees will be going up by about 20%.
It was also approved to pass the debtors list onto a lawyer to recover outstanding debts. This is being done now.
It was also agreed to raise all the fencing around the pool ASAP. We have someone on Monday here to quote us for it and get work started.
We mentioned that in our meeting at the town hall last week they told us that they would be clearing the rough area opposite us where the new town hall is going. They are hoping to do this very soon. I chased them on this yesterday and will report back as soon as there is some movement there.
Those were really the main topics. If anyone has specific questions then please ask.
Justin

Hi Justin
That's great thanks. Are we still going to have the outside painted again with sealer paint? What about the garage doors - when is that going to happen?
