I Just thought you would like a update of how the building is getting on.

I just had a walk around the building and they have floor tiled some of the apartments and are putting on some of the internal doors.

It better not be Xmas 08 before it is finished i live next door to it.

 We have lived in Formentera just over a year and found the village a very frendly place to live But you must try to speak spanish and they will try to speak english..

 The new suprmarket should be open within the next 2 weeks and their has been a new bar open next door to the iffy bar sorry i meant the liffey bar its called the timanfaya bar i recommend it s a very nice bar

The builders are putting on the final finnish on the end by the white building its a cream colour

Thanks for that, I don't know if you have read our previous messages but both Marie and myself are learning spanish, so hopefully we will be able to put it to good use.

Would you happen to know what is going to be built in front of the block on the small rectanglar piece of land.  When I was over last I got a mixed reply from some commercial build i.e. bank and some properties which should not be no than two storey high.  The problem is the story keeps changing and I'm curious to know what you may have been told.

Brian, Thank you again for the information. Glad that you are settled in there ! You are right about speaking spanish. We would expect people that come to our countries
to do the same so I aways make a real effort to speak it.

 I wonder was it a pun on the word iffy for liffy bar ? We didnt find it that friendly on our last visit but maybe
it was just an off day.

Is it a mercadona thats opening up near the pubs?

Hi All

  The supermarket is super valu their is one in quesada by the golf course and we have found it a very good supermarket.

As far as the liffey bar is concerned we to have not found it very friendly in fact the irish people  who own a apartment in our block refuse to go in their on saying that they do have a good quiz night on thursdays.

On the land in question who knows what is going to be built there it can change from week to week we have a friend that worked for ambersun and she said it was going to be a block of apartments as high as yours but until they start to build their we will not know.

we have bought in block 1 phase 2 above the supermarket has anyone got any idea when this will be completed. I was out in August the floors were tiled the bathrooms fitted but the corridors etc were no not started we've been told November 07 but of course this is Spain just carn't wait to get out there.

Amanda n Nick, our building is just opposite yours to the right of the park so I dont know the schedule for your building. All I can say is that when we
were there at the end of September, your building was a hive of activity with workers everywhere.

We didn't get nearly as many people there as for the barbeque, but I think there were two reasons - football on the telly (ugh!) and lack of residents at the time. It was very quiet. However, there were about 8-10 of us who had a little competition. I haven't a clue who won - yes we did have beer and wine!

Don't worry about the builders spending their siesta in the bar - they have always done that and our apartments (Mar Y Sol) got finished to a high standard. It's what they are used to, after all they START the day with coffee with brandy!

Hi Marie and guys,

Were back out next Thursday 25th until Sunday 28th, we are counting down the days.  Pat is out there at the moment, he's out for two weeks, and went the day after you came back.  Once the apartments are built we really must try and get together even if its just for a weekend.  Can't wait to see the update, so were grateful of any updates anyone can post.

Hopefully as you said the Liffey bar will pick up, they unfortunately have not had a good start due to personal circumstances, also when we went all the food was either deep fried or microwaved, but to be fair there was not the clientel when we went.  We found the hospitalility however to be lovely and they couldn't have been more friendly.

The new bar in the village looks lovely, will have to check it out when were out and will make a note of anywhere else we have tried.

I will be driving when we go, and this will be my first time driving in Spain, the only time I have drove left side was earlier this year in Florida and that was a straight road!!

If anybody is out there next week and would like to meet up then just let us know, we will be stopping in one of the apartments in the Mar Y Sol.

Hope you have a wonderful time !! I drove for the first time in Spain last May and it was great to finally have some independence !!!!
The AP7 is great - a straight road until exit 740 and straight into Formentera. Plus you get a great feel for the surrounding towns.
The beach is just 10 mins and so easy to get to.

Hello to all at BDM.

We have just got back from Formentera, as we were over for the electricity change from builder,s supply to Iberdrola. We stuck our camera through the windows of BDM and posted the results on your site. They have started to paint side of building too - photo included. Photos of tiling, wardrobe doors and internal doors included too. We know how good it is to get photo updates of your development. Hope you like them.

There are many nice places to visit such as Elche - Huerto del Cura gardens- pick a sunny day; Alicante - castle & old barrio quarter; Santa Pola - boat trip to Isla Tabarca-again pick a sunny day; Guardamar - lovely beach and pine forest park; beautiful blue lake (Embassament de la Pedrera) near Vistabella ; the Mar Menor between Lo Pagan and Santiago de la Ribera;  nearer to home in Rojales - cave houses and shell house;  further afield Sierra Espunia near Murcia; Santuario de la Fuensanta- Algezares- wonderful views over Murcia; Caravaca del la Cruz.. Further North  there are Fonts d' Algar, Polop, Guadalest, Novelda, Biar & Bocairent (Medieval towns) but maybe best to wait until you have had more practise driving on the right!!!
