Hi every one,

my husband and I completed in July and were happy with the standard of the appartement,however our friends have just come back from a week in our appartement.

They have informed us that there is a big black damp patch in the main  bedroom with fur on it! and that the bedroom felt damp.

Has any one else suffered with this and if so what can we  do?

I too have had a problem with this, as have a number of others by the sound of things. 

As i understand it, it is down to the 'Quality' of the grouting around the bath.

I didn't get anywhere with the builders as it was months after we completed that we became aware of the issue, even though we are visiting almost every month.

I intend to regrout the bathroom but in the mean time I have filled the bath with water and the applied Silicon sealant around the top of the bath and allowed it to dry.

The mould wasn't too bad in the bedroom and it cleaned up quickly, i went over it with a coat of paint and this seemed to sort it out.

I dont think this is the same problem as the mould is on at the top of the wall.

Could it be the rain and do you think its worth involving the builders?

I have heard of some instances where rain water has come down the steps to the upper floor solariums and has then 'shown on the 'ceiling' above the terrace.

Could the upper floor have had a leak that you don't know about?

Is yours a ground floor property?

I would pursue it with the builder and your agent if they are willing to help.

Thanks, I am comming out in December so will contact Parador to see if they can arrange for the builder to meet me.

Will let you know what the final outcome is.

I know there have been some cases where water from the upper floor steps to the solarium has run down the stairs and marked the 'ceiling' area above the terrace on the ground floor.

But you say there is mould on the bedroom ceiling?

I would definitely try to involve the builders whilst you can.

I've seen exactly the same last week when I was at DHII. Certainly after the heavy rain falls on the Costa Blance, I saw some wet spots on the terrace sides at various appartment at the upper floor. As I have a ground floor appartment, I have not seen any consequence (yet) but will surely check when I go again shortly. Thank you for sharing your experience on the forum about the progress.

My friend has given me the photos of  the mould,and it looks to me like the water must be leaking in through the solarium to the ceiling.

Will Definately be contacting Parador. Have just started a new job so have had a lot to think about!
