We picked up Lola's address costaonline.net from someone who had posted about getting NIE numbers - she is based at La Manga - very good service - great sense of humour - sorted out our papers took us to the Police Station Cartaghena - will pick them up, cost  75 Euros each number we recomend her - total lack of hassle.

BBVA

Mortgage - sat in BBVA office for 45 mins - wahat a waste of time! went to Santander - easy peasy.

We were hoping to apply for BBVA mortgage but now having read your message we are thinking otherwise, what was the problem if you dont mind me asking.

no real problem as such just the Spanish manyana thing I think, but we had opened an account already at Santander Bank up by Campoamor/Villa Martin area anyway as we had been going out there for years - so just popped in and saw the lady we had dealt with before who was extremely helpful and the rate compared to the BBVA rate.

We were looking at 55,000 euros to borrow [just paid that in sterling to re-roof our care home in welsh slate - HAD TO LIE DOWN WITH A BRANDY TO GET OVER THE COST] - as I recall figures were comparable 2 years interest only circa 252 EUROS PCM - if we pay 500 euros pcm into the account the account is free to run as well - it is alleged this can be paid through Abbey in the UK again charge free.

We are 14-44 Albatross by the way [we put numbers on the gate [on the correct gate we hope!] Not prepared to sign until water & electricity definintely connect - had a flying visit last week and met Eric who was busy painting - Hi to Eric and his wife. We'll be going back in November - hopefully to sign then. It is starting to look good - when people do gardens and the greenery goes in it will be transformed.
