I dont know about my future neighbours but one of my main reasons for having this bolt hole in sunny Spain is so that I can retire in the not too distant future with the pease of mind that I would be leaving behind the yob culture of London. But maybe I wass being too optimistic....
This weekend we were in Spain again, in fact we have just got back, and during a visit to site on Sunday night I saw some very disturbing events involving a couple of fair haired, english speaking boys only young about 8/9. They were joined by a rather loadmouth girl about the same age, all curly hair and attitude and they were throwing stones at some of the bungalows facing the centre neer the detatched villas.
We watched them for some time and during this period they abused another young girl walking her dog, performing rude gestures behind her back and then I saw them throwing stones at another dog. Disgusting behaviour.
I certainly hope there is not going to be an Estate Culure developing!! Where are the parents thats what I would like to know? I for one will not be tolerating this behaviour as its what we want to move away from.
When is the comittee due to be elected and when it is we want to stamp out the YOBS!

Children should be taught to NOT vandalise other peoples properties.... whether there are any activities for them or not !!!! The lack of them does NOT constitute an acceptance of unruly behaviour, and the parents should be brought to task for their offsprings unacceptable behaviour !!! Personally, I am not in favour of "do gooder" attitudes...lets get parents to teach respect and punish accordingly when required ! Why should ordinary people have to suffer because of the inadequacies of poor parenting !...we personally will NOT put up with it when we move onto the site.

Thank you Volfen.
I am sure that if your property was being pelted with stones or your grand-daughter was having extreme gesture made behind her back you would certainly not be worrying about 'welly wangling' or whatever it was.
The point I was trying to make is that that kind of behaviour is both shocking and unacceptable and considering their age this is the parents fault. I will not go so far as to call for naming and shaming but boredom does no give youths/yobs carte blanche to destroy what is not theirs. No amount of 'do gooding' can make up for poorly brought up children.

Point taken, Tina. I'm glad to hear that there is plenty going on for residents' children.
Do you think the problems are being caused by residents or visitors renting a property for holidays?

Thank you to those of you who have contacted us privately.
Sadly, it would appear that these children are resident on site and have been left to run wild. So somebody should approach the parents to curb this kind of behaviour.

If there your children cannot find any thing to do it is up to you, they are yours children and not the site problem, do the Spanish childern go around ringing door bells or are we to blame them as we do in the UK it is some one else to find thing for them to do. The devil will allways look after idle hands

This issue is of great concern to us and should be for everyone who owns a property on this development. We, like the majority of people buying on San Cayentano did so with the wish for a better way of life either by frequent visits or by permanently moving in. A residents committee is a good idea to deal with most issues but this requires action by every person on site to stop the problem before it escalates. There is a real danger that this anti social behaviour, if left unchecked, will become an accepted part of life in the community. The parents of any child found acting in this way need telling immediately to take the necessary steps to prevent it happening again and if it continues, the authorities need informing. It is sad to see the word “victim” in regards to the place where most people have set their dreams upon.
From reading the threads San Cayetano has a lot of nice people and is a great place with a lot to offer, so we can’t let the ignorance of a few people spoil it. We are in the final stages of completing so unfortunately are not there to take any action ourselves now but when we come across early December, (unfortunately only visiting to complete) we would be prepared to get involved to help nip this in the bud.

Hi Roger and Louise
I agree 100% with your comments. Colin and I were out in Spain for six weeks and we did encounter the children in question. The parents were told about their behaviour but needless to say they have done nothing about it so it will be down to the majority of us to sort it out sooner rather than later.
Enjoy your visit in December and hope all goes well for you both. Colin and I will be out for three weeks in January to finish off fitting out our Penthouse.
Best wishes
Gill.

Just wanted to broadcast my thanks to all of you who have been in touch!
It seems the residents are not sitting back and just allowing it, which is wonderful to hear. My only concern is that the Parents do not seem the type to take well to critisim but if they find the community, that they expect to be a source of financial gain, turning against them then surely they must act in accordance with the concerns of the greater majority. However, in my experience this kind of person does not apply logic but simply 'react s' which we obviously need to avoid but I think the committee is the answer that way it is the voice of the community and not an individual therefore it should reduce the chance of reprisals.
So if you witness anything on your trips to site could I ask that these incidents be noted and once the committee is in place we hand them in so that we are acting on factual dated information rather than 'oh it happened some time in November'.
Sending my best wishes to all my future neighbours

Hi All,
When we were out last week, we noticed some grafitti on a wall near the penthouse showhouse, we were quite appalled as I am sure everyone knows what Spain is like for graffiti. Certainly it was only a very small area but if not stamped out now we could see whole walls soon, I hope not

Dear All,
I usually only read all the posts gathering useful info and such like. However this thread has grabbed my attention. We have bought over the road but of course these issues will affect us just as much.
We stayed on site during the summer in an internal walk way quad. What we experiencedduring our stay did cause me to worry about this kind of behaviour. Although we didnt see anything we certainly heard it!!! Bad language, noise and doorbell ringing all goning on as late as 3am. I know of at least 3 residents that are hoping to make a move to get away from what appear to be a very small minority.
But my point is this, Its easy to say its down to the parents but if the parents behave no better how can you expect them to guide the children?
Its a very difficult situation, I certainly dont envy you.
Wishing and hoping that you have a swift a final solution.
Patty

Dear All
This news is disturbing for sure. As the offending family are known, is it possible before a committee can be formed - which is taking on the appearance of vigilante almost and understandably so -- that those who are in the process of signing for thier dream homes can 'threaten' delay through their agents/solicitors thereby bringing pressure on Tary to assist the residents in sorting out this problem sooner rather than later.
A committee certainly needs to be formed, but for positive rather than negative reasons. If we can potentially 'hit' Taray in their pockets, then maybe this situation can be nipped in the bud.
Best regards Harry

I am sorry Harry but what do you expect Taray to do. The family or famalies have obviously already completed, and paid their money to Taray. Taray will have no influence on them at all. My concern is not for the behaviour of those families that will be living in San Cayetano as I am sure that over time things can be sorted out, however many people will be renting out their houses as holiday lets. I have stayed in places where the behaviour of a minority has ruined the holiday of the majority. I know that this post might sound a little like "better the devil you know..." but I think that one of the tasks of the community should be to put in place measures to make owners of rental properties responsible for the behaviour of their guests.

Hi Julian
I really couldn't agree with you more. However, knowing that these families have already been approached by other residents with absolutely no response, my thoughts of having Taray intercede on our behalf is as you put it 'better the devil you know' in some ways. Taray will be keen that San Cayetano is a happy place where both long term residents and people utilising the area for holiday lets only feel comfortable and safe. Loutish behaviour should be non-acceptable anywhere. People have spent a great deal of money to secure for themselves a happy place to work and bring up children and/or to use in their retirement. I know Taray have no real powers, but it is in their interests as much as ours that this is nipped in the bud as soon as possible. Confrontation has not solved anything apparently, so what would you suggest is the next move. Any port in a storm as far as I'm concerned.
