What route do you want?  Do you mean from Murcia/Alicante airports to La Matanza or is it somewhere else that you want?  If from Alicante the best way is left out of the airport onto the AP7 for Madrid & Murcia (obviously don't come off at the Madrid junction) and come off at junction 81 (Benferi).  Take the last exit off the Benferi (1st) round-a-bout as though you are going into the village but just as the village starts (about 30 mtrs from round-a-bout) take left at sign for La Matanza. Continue to T junction and turn right straight into La Matanza. I haven't flown into Murcia but again the AP7 is the most direct, but heading for Alicante & leaving it sign posted Orihuella. The problem going in this direction is that you do have a toll to pay. cost depending on time of day & year, but it is only a couple of Euros. Both routes take about 35/45 mins depending on traffic. Last time I did journey from Alicante in 35 mins. Return took about the same although traffic was heavier.

Hello everyone from us newbies!!

The directions from Alicante airport will be a great help. I have printed them off! Thank you. Can someone give us directions from Murcia airport please? Our first proper visit as owners is fast approaching and it would be so good to arrive calm and without the ineveitable frustrations that taking too many wrong turnings always produces! To make it clear, it would be directions from Murcia airport to La Matanza - Princesa Elisa, that we need.

Getting really excited now!! Sorry to hear about the leaky roof/ cracked tiles that some of you are experiencing. Fingers crossed it isn't a common problem and that you are able to get it sorted soon.

Great to be in contact!

Jane and Andy

PS And directions to the Carrefour too please - from La Matanza!!

You have 2 options for Carrefour. the one i have always use is in Torrevieja whilst there is another in Elche. For Torrevieja you leave the village as though you were going to Orihuela, i.e. out the through the main street.  Once you get to the T junction take a left, continue over the AP7 to the next T junction & take a right for Orihuela, miss the first turn for Orihuela to the next T junction & go right again. After about 200 to 300 mtrs there is a right onto the flyover.  Take this & at the 2nd roundabout follow the Torrevieja/Bigastra/San Miquel sign.  You then go into Torrevieja past the hospital (about 30 KM) until you come to the coast road (N337 I think from memory).  Go onto this heading for Alicante. (You go under the road & take immediate left turn).  Stay on this for 2 exits.  You should see a vivid Blue cone with yellow top.  This is were you come off & then take last exit off roundabout heading back to go under the coast road.  You are now almost there as the Carrefour is on your right after the next roundabout.  To return, turn right onto the duel carriageway & follow signs for San Miquel & then Orihuela.  It will bring you onto the Bigastra - San Miquel road that you came in on & then retrace your outbound route.

For Elche you need to go back to Benferi and head for Alicante back up the AP7. Cone of the AP7 at the first Elche exit & go straight down the duel carriageway.  The Carrefour is on your right but the best person to ask about this store is Dave & Sandra at no 149 (below us at 150).  Actually you will find most of the residents very helpful & they will direct you to the best store for whatever you need.

Hope this helps & enjoy your visit

Hi,

"Young" also wishes she was too!!!  Sorry Carmel, couldn't resist that one.  No doubt you will get me back one way or the other!

I am also grateful for these directions, cos as we now know the way (Carmel took us), I was about to write it all up for when our son goes over in April.  No need now, saved me a job - Thanks.

Is the one at Elche quicker than the  Torrevieja one?

Speak soon.

Sorry I've just read your e-mail properly about the Carrefour, I don't think there's much differnce but you can travel a lot quicker on the motorway so Elche won't take as long. Dave & Sandra go to Elche and he swears it's shorter.

Speak to you soon
