Hi everyone,

Anyone NOT buying their furniture from shop (s) recommended by their agents?

Does anyone recommend other shops to buy from?

Also, has anyone had any experience of sending furniture over from UK to Spain?  Costs etc.

Cheers

Ellen

Hi there

We are not buying our furniture from Arca we are going to spend our 2000 euro voucher mainly on the white goods at Arca and the remainder we will probably be buying from IKEA. It is worth spending a little extra on brand named white goods as my mums Spanish equivalents have all been replaced already.

My mum got a furniture package from Arca which cost her 7000 euros in 2003 and was totally ripped off but there was no IKEA or such places back then. In hindsight she said she would not do it again but she was racing against the clock as they only had a few days in which to sort this out which is I suppose what these companies rely upon. Most things in IKEA are available to take away straight away or deliver within 3 days. The delivery charge to La Matanza regardless of how much you buy is about 150 euros. Apparantly, there are some beautiful shops in Murcia as well. Have no idea about costs of sending from the UK to Spain.

Hi John & Caroline,

We are thinking along the very same lines.  We aim to spend our 2000 euros on white goods and anything else that needs fitting - light & bathroom fittings and maybe curtain poles.  We agree entirely that it is best to get branded goods.

We are also considering IKEA or DFS for furniture.  Do you know if the prices are about the same as in the UK?  Searched on the web site but no prices given.  We are also trying to find second hand shops, as we have been told that there are really some very good bargains to be had.

We know of another couple who are considering shipping furniture over and they are looking into the cost and logistics of it all.  We are waiting for them to get back to us.

Hope all goes well for you when you go over and speak to you soon.

Cheers, Ellen & Jim

Hi Ellen and Jim

We have the IKEA Murcia catalogue and the prices are either very similar or slightly cheaper. There is a lovely girl who works on the sofas department called Jana who speaks excellent English and is really helpful.

Speak soon

Has anyone compared the price of garden furniture tables/chairs, loungers etc. We will be bringing some furniture out from the UK and  wondered if it would be worth buying some here and shipping it over to Spain. Also is the DFS in Murcia?

 Thanks

 Carmel and George
