Has anyone used the Polaris service for this. Is it costly? Easy to get set up? We just want to have as many Television channels from the uk/usa as possible and fast broadband. any information gratefuly recieved. Thanks Nic

We have the PW tv package set up in our apartment. Cost is a one-off charge of 400 euros - you order from the call centre ( need passport number and bank details ). They installed it within 2 days of ordering - our key holder sorted it out for us so it was up and running for when were over last weekend.

Basically you get all the BBC channels and ITV channels ( 1, 2, 3 etc) but no channel 4. You also get a number of other free view channels such as cbeebies, which is good if you have kids like us, sky news etc. Also lots of foreign channels if you can speak any german or Spanish.

I understand that the internet isn't up and running yet at HR and don't have costs as we won't be using this.

Broadband is not fast in Spain and can be very unstable...certainly in Murcia area in my experience so far. .... at La Torre, the broadband service available (only by PW)... is available with pre-installed cabling to all properties. It is ok for e-mailing and general browsing, but not suitable for anything fast such as streaming or anything such as Skype etc.

You can get an annual contract, or you can get a PAYG type of card which is available at outlets through the resort. cards are ok if you are just there for a few days and want to keep track of e-mails etc....and vary in cost. PAYG cards are obviously more expensive , but useful if you are just an occasional user.

This is the La Torre system, but would see no difference for the other resorts.

The Polaris system is fine and we have the wifi installed and we run Skype fine on a daily basis ringing friends and family back in the UK (on El Valle). The telephone and internet will not be available for approx another 2-3months on HR as we were told yesterday by the call centre. The TV is ok to get setup now and are installing on either Mon, Wed, Fridays just a couple of days after ordering. You cannot pay by cash or card you must take your passport and 20 digit IBAN bank number for payment method. Hope that helps!!!
