What happens if you get a parking ticket on a hire car and it is not paid for whatever the reason?
This happened to a friend of mine who got a ticket on a Friday afternoon on her way to the airport. She didn't havre the time to pay it and tried to inform the car rental company but they only spoke Spainish and she could not get the message across. They thought she was trying to tell them where she parked the car at the airport. So she left and is very worried about what happens next.

It's likely in the future there will be a charge made to her credit card for the fine, plus penalty plus administration fee.
This is usually all detailed in the rental contract and is standard practice - read the small print!
She should try to get it paid so that it does not involve the rental company.
