How's this for a strange fiesta? Anybody seen it?

when: 6 Jun 2010 (annual)
where: Castrillo de Murcia
cost: Free

Since 1620 Castrillo de Murcia has celebrated Corpus Christi with an act that is known as El Colacho. The famously bizarre event sees grown men dressed as the Devil leaping over a row of babies lying in the street... More

I know.  I read about this recently.  Of all the traditions in Spain this has to be one of the strangest ones.

Not sure if I'd put my baby there though.  What if "the devil" slipped as he jumped??

Fabulous pictures, thanks Morerosado. But I agree, it's complete madness.

Wow, I can't quite believe this.  I love this sort of thing in Spain.  My favourite is a fiesta where they through fireworks at each other in the street.  I think it's somewhere in Madrid.  Madness.

Sanchez1 - I don't think I'd enjoy being amongst the firework throwing crowd... Scary!

According to Wiki, due to its dangerous nature, the Pope has asked priests in Spain to stay away from the Baby Jumping events. Probably wise!
