getting back to the thread........
some good news today in that the banks are making profit again. Be interesting now to see how the bailed out one's intend to pay back the tax payers?
Good news for UK football fans, not least Liverpool fans. A cracking win last night in contrast to a dismal last season.

I normally try not to address posts to indiviuals but i guess Redsam is still looking for something?
As posted i read your post about Torres and also Goodstich44's reply and commented that football posts especially are the ones most likely to attract conflicting replies
My opinion about the ensuing verbal spat was that it was of "playground'' standard. By the why perhaps Goodstich44 thinks all highly paid footballers are as described. The comment about giving him his ball back was irony with a football flavour
I don't know why your next post was deleted, but whatever was posted pushed somebodys button, i have no control over this.
Maybe it was continuing as previous comments, but my reply enquired as to wether another adult post had been deleted
I surely don't know how you have the interest in continuing this line of posting, for my part i'm currently waiting for a train and this passes the time
Why don't you just enjoy Liverpools win last night, enjoy the forthcoming season and post whatever you like about your favoured team
But just accept others may not agree with you and may dare to say so!!!!!!

Fine trivial prose is the least i can do, trival being the nub of our exchange
Having looked back through your 200 odd posts in such a sort time space, i now understand all
No need to try and impress me further with your lexicology
Thanks for your concern but Eurostar ran to time, i've crossed London to Paddington and am currently enjoy a pint of London Pride in the Mad Bishop awaiting onward connections
I'm sure you'll understand if i suggest no need to reply
Now London Pride is Good News in the UK :-) indeed!!!!!!
Edited for grammatical mistake think of the consequences!!!!

Dear David W
Apologies in advance, but I cannot resist making a trivial comment! Did you mean to say "a sort time space" or "a short time space"?
I guess Eurostar is good news in the UK - and also good news in France! When we left the UK to move to Spain, we went by Eurostar to Paris then took the trenhotel to Madrid, stayed there overnight and continued by train to Murcia. Much more civilised than flying to Spain with Ryanair, even if it cost a bit more money - however, having said that, I suspect that the two heavy cases we both carried would have cost us a lot more money in excess baggage taxes!

oooooo yes London pride, a fine pint. What happened to Fullers ESB though?. Was my favourite strong ale, but haven't seen it on sale for a while now.

Ah ESB. What a fine strong ale.
Brings back memories of a fine summer day many years ago. I drunk far too much of it - purely as a thirst quencher you under stand - then set the the kitchen alight. Anyway that's what I was told. Ah happy days.
The 'good news' is that my scouts from Chiswick tell me it is still brewed and available.
However Fullers bought Gales a few years and are now brewing their ales as well. They seem to be pushing Gales HSB a strong ale but not as strong as ESB.
The good news is then that many good ales are being brewed.
Next time I'm over I might just 'test' them to see if I like them.
Happy Days

David, only a quick reply. Please have a pint of London Pride on me. I have not heard of it but from what you and goodstich say it sounds worthy of your praise.
Soy de Irelanda y me gusta una pinta de guinness.
(My Spanish is probably not gramtically correct but you should get the gist of it)

.....ok, will look out for those.
We have some really good micro breweries here in Northampton. Two of which are Nobby's ales, great beers brewed by Nobby himself!, and Frog Island brewery which does a good strong ale called 'Croak and stagger' as well as some very good pale bitters for the summer. I've taken to riding my pushbike to the pubs supplying these, though not quite sure where I stand being slightly pi**ed in charge of a push bike?

Goodstich,
Northampton, Oh yes. Played rugby there umpteen years ago, in the amateur days.
Havn't been there for years but I recall a pub near the railway station think it was called Thomas A Beckett.
Local beer was Phipps or Phillips, I think. The 'good news' was that it was very nice.
It would be 'good news' to know it was still brewed.
ESB is really a 'winter ale' so might be more available then.
Good News to hear about Nobby and Frog.
Mind you don't get your trousers caught in the bike chain. Good news is Halfords are doing a deal on cycle clips.
Cheers

The good news in the UK is that I will be in London in two weeks' time for my daughter's birthday celebrations, however I'm not a beer drinker, so there will be plenty of beer left for you guys to drink! The bad news is that I may create a national wine shortage (though not as bad as if John was with me. He's staying in Spain as a dog sitter!)

have a good trip and 'Happy Birthday' to your daughter.

Phipps long gone, but just googled it and found it's being brewed again but not in Northampton.
As for cycle clips, I confess to using one on the chain side only. Just how sexy do I look????......a 52 year old baldy man, riding a push bike with one cycle clip. I have to fight the women off constantly!!
Going back to beer......why to flashy places often have such rubbish beer? I went to my nephews wedding yesterday in a lovely setting, very posh, classy etc, but all they had was Tetley bitter, Guiness, or Carlsberg and another crappy lager with no taste. Even my 14 year old son said it tastes like water!!

The good news England wins the cricket against Pakistan.
Traveled over to watch the match whilst the removers relocate us from Barcelona to Mallorca - can't do with all that packing and unpacking. I'm staying on to see the next match at The Oval and hope it's a bit closer. Then off to Mallorca to see what needs doing before spending a few weeks in my homeland for the Winter Ashes series -- who to support - as I've been based in UK since '65 I guess it will have to England.
I'll miss Barca after having a home in the city for the past 10-years but look foward to spending the Autumn and Spring in the north of Mallorca.

Tish, we are looking forward to the change and what a change it wll be. We orgionally moved to Barcelona for the culutral aspects of the city and it's people. Things will certainly change now as we are moving to a farmhouse just on the outskirts of Soller so life will be much quieter and I guess I'll have to learn to speak Spanish rather than Catalan. Can't wait for the Spring when all the orange blossom is out and the cycling teams will be training on the Island.
We intend to be spending the spring and autumn at the house in soller as I enjoy the English summers cycling around the Chilterns from our home in Radnage and watching test cricket.

Soller is lovely, very much favoured by the French, We enjoy the drive over the mountains to Valdemossa and Denia too. You lead a charmed life!
