Please tell my why

We live in a beautiful country that grows fantastic fresh produce YET Mercadona sells the most awful range of tinned tomatoes I have ever tasted. By the time I had cut off the ends of the tomatoes, cutaway the very light stringy bits, not to mention cutting out the hard bits, my two tins of tomatoes are now one!!
Can anyone recommend an own Spanish brand or at least which supermarket (apart from Iceland) has the best ones.....

Why not buy fresh and cook them !
They should then be OK for anything you want to cook- may take a bit of extra time !
The best pasta source is made with fresh toms!

Definitely the fresh, plum tomatoes for anything that requires a tomato type sauce. Stick them in a bowl of boiling water and leave them for a minutes. Score the skins with a sharp knife and leave them a couple more minutes. Peel will then come off easily and they are certainly tastier than the tinned ones which contain salt, vinegar and preservatives. Makes spaghetti and pizza sauces that are delish. (Beef tomatoes on special offer in Tesco today, £1 each or 2 for £1.50, honest).
Oh, they also had the smallest pomegranites you have ever seen at £1 each. About the size of a medium plum.

Hi bobaol
Thanks for the tip about the plum toms, will try them next time. Sometimes I wish we had a Tesco, or a Sainsburys for the quality, choice and value for money here in Spain.
