Help for best places to live on Costa Del Sol and finding work as British Nurse
The Comments |
Hello there,
I am doing a lot of research into moving to Spain with my 6 and 4 year old.
I can not speak Spanish at the moment but intend to learn asap.i am a Nurse with 20 years experience having specialised in stoma, wound and continence care. I have heard that there are nursing agencys looking for British nurses to look after the ex pats, I have found one in Benidorm but am having trouble finding anything else. Not sure that Id want to live in Benidorm either.
Just wondered if anyone can advise the best places to bring up the little ones, for schools work etc. I am getting the impression from a lot of different sources that life is very tough out there at the mo.
I would welcome any input.
Many thanks,
Tania

According to the Costa Blanca News a while back, there is a glut of qualified nurses in Spain which is why many of them leave to work abroad. Not wishing to put a damper on this, the article also stated there was an over abundance of doctors as well which is why many of those leave. I understand that British nursing qualifications are recognised in Spain so that shouldn't be a worry. There is a nursing agency on the Costa del Sol which specialises in providing care for the expate community so you could try them as your first point of call. The same with the one you mentioned in Benidorm. Working for an agency there may not actually entail living in Benidorm as there is a big expat community around and about on the Costa Blanca (probably getting bigger than that on the Costa del Sol).
Best of luck whatever you do.
PS. Click the blue words nursing agency to go to their website which includes contact details.

Hi Tania
I live on the Costa Del Sol and have lived here for 11 years, I have a 4.5 year old at State School and he loves it. I live in the Mijas Costa area.
A company to contact with relation to Nursing work is Medicare Nursing Services, have a look at the website and ask for David Donaldson. www.medicarenursingservices.com
I hope that helps!

Thanks Sam are you a nurse? Dis you speak Spanish when you first went out?
How is the recession hitting the area as Ive heard some very negative things re everything being very expensive and a lot of expats leaving.
Cheers
