An odd comment there for sure and some mixed messages coming through.
It's definitely NOT a good thing to be losing British tourists as they have been such a major source of tourism revenue for many years in Andalucia.
I think what they are trying to say is that they don't want to depend on one country as their main source of tourism, yet the others don't make up for the shorthall in British tourists.
The British market is still their main market but we are seeing other nationalities start to take an interest in Spain for holidays.
Maybe their efforts would be better spent in convinving people that the justice system will work better in their favour in Spain, especially as so many of the British holiday makers have gone on to plough more money into the Spanish economy through buying holiday homes here...and then gone on to lose it all.
The other problem being too that so many local businesses have taken advantage of tourists by hugely inflating their prices making Spain not a cheap place to holiday any more. In fact, even the Junta plays a part in this in increasing all the motorway toll prices during summer. Surely this is not a good long-term strategy.
